전래동화를 중심으로 한 ‘자기 문화 스토리텔링’ 활용 한국어 말하기 능력 신장 방안 연구

국문 초록

한국어 교육뿐만 아니라 외국어교육 학습 전반에 있어서 중요시 되는 것이 ‘의사소통능력’ 향상이다. 그리고 한국어 교육에서 한국 문화 요소에 대한 교육이 필요하다는 것은 이제 하나의 공론적 사실처럼 되고 있다. 문화에 대한 이해가 외국어 학습의 효율성에 큰 영향을 미친다는 점을 상기할 때 한국어 교육에서 한국 문화 요소를 중시하여 교육 내용으로 삼으려는 것은 당연하다. 따라서 본고에서는 학습자 자신이 발화의 주체가 되어 주도적으로 대화를 이끌어 나가고, 다양한 주제로 창의적으로 이야기를 구성할 수 있게 하기 위해서 제한된 문형 반복 학습(pattern drill)에서 벗어난 교수-학습 방법의 필요성을 통감하는 바이다. 이를 위해 본고에서는 학습자의 말하기 능력 신장을 위한 방법으로 전래동화를 중심으로 한 자기 문화 스토리텔링 교수-학습 방안을 제안하였다. 인류의 보편적인 정서를 담고 있는 전래동화를 활용한 자기 문화 스토리텔링을 통해 학습자들은 자국의 문화와 목표 언어의 문화에 대해서 스스로 문화 간 비교·대조를 하였다. 이를 통해 궁극적으로 말하기 능력을 신장시키고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 전래동화를 중심으로 한 ‘자기 문화 스토리텔링’ 활용 교수-학습 방안을 마련하고 실제 5차시 수업을 통해 한국어 학습자의 말하기 능력 신장에 도움이 되는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구가 어떤 학습자 단계에서 더 유용할지와 말하기 영역뿐만 아니라 다른 영역에는 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 대해서는 후속 연구에서 밝히고자 한다.

영문 초록

Improvement of ‘communication skill’ is important not only for Korean language education, but also foreign language learning. Also, it is now being regarded to be an academic fact that Korean education regarding Korean cultural elements is needed. Considering that understanding of culture highly influences efficiency of foreign language learning, it is natural to consider Korean cultural elements as important to use them educationally. Therefore, this article keenly realized the necessity of teaching-learning method which breaks from repeated learning of limited sentence patterns(pattern drill), in order to help learners take the lead at a conversation and make up stories with various topics in a creative way. For achieving these purposes, this study suggested a regional culture story-telling teaching-learning method which is based on traditional fairy tales, for improving speaking abilities of learners. Learners were asked to compare and contrast their cultures and cultures of target languages with one another through regional culture story-telling of traditional fairy tales that contain universal emotions of human being, to ultimately improve their speaking abilities. This study was designed to see whether teaching-learning method using traditional fairy tale-centered ‘regional culture story-telling’ helps the improvement in speaking abilities of learners, by applying it to the 5-lesson class. A further research will investigate at what learner process this study would be useful and its effect on other areas including the speaking area.
