국문 초록

이 연구는 HGIS 기법을 활용해 일제강점기의 산이름 표기변화를 체계적으로 분석하고, 그 역사·문화·사 회적 의미를 고찰한 것이다. 총 1,160개의 지명 중 882개의 산이름(산, 봉, 령, 치 등)을 추출하여 분석한 결과, 일제 강점기에 표기변화가 나타난 87개의 산이름 중 현재까지 유지되는 25개의 산이름을 확인했다. 이 중 충청남도 홍 성군의 일월산, 경상남도 함양군과 거창군의 남덕유산, 경상남도 창원시의 정병산을 사례로 심층 분석하였다. 연 구 결과, 산이름의 표기변화가 지역의 역사, 문화, 사회적 관계와 깊이 연결되어 있으며, 이는 향후 산이름 복원과 표준화 작업에 중요한 기반이 될 것이다. 구체적으로 이 연구는 일제강점기 동안의 산이름 변화를 체계적으로 분 석하여 지명의 역사적 의미를 고찰하는 기초 자료를 제공한다. 산이름의 공간 DB 구축과 국가적인 표준화에 기 여할 수 있으며, 일제강점기에 왜곡되거나 변화된 산이름의 복원 방향을 제시하는 객관적인 자료로 활용될 수 있는 사회적 가치를 지닌다. 그러나 본 연구는 진산과 주산에 해당하는 산이름만을 다룬 점, 대표지명과 이명칭 (별칭), 속칭의 취급 방식에 대한 고민이 필요하다는 한계점이 있다. 향후 연구에서는 포괄적인 자료 수집과 다양 한 명칭의 체계적 분석을 통해 이러한 한계를 극복해야 하는 것이 과제이다

영문 초록

This study utilizes HGIS techniques to systematically analyze the changes in mountain placename notations during the Japanese colonial period, focusing on their historical, cultural, and social significance. From 1,160 placenames, 882 mountain placenames were examined, identifying 87 that experienced changes during the colonial period, with 25 still in use today. In-depth analysis of cases like Ilwolsan, Namdeogyusan, and Jeongbyeongsan reveals that these changes are closely tied to regional history, culture, and social dynamics, providing a foundation for future placename restoration and standardization efforts. However, the study is limited by its focus on “Jinsan” and “Jusan” mountain placenames and calls for further consideration of alternative and colloquial names. Despite these limitations, the research offers crucial data for understanding the historical significance of placenames during the Japanese colonial period. Future studies should address these limitations by collecting comprehensive data and analyzing various name types. The study contributes to developing a spatial database of mountain placenames, aiding national standardization efforts, and providing objective data for restoring mountain placenames altered during the colonial period.
