『조선음악전집(가요편)』으로 본 북한 가요의 성립과 변천

국문 초록

본 연구는 『조선음악전집(가요편)』을 통해 북한 가요의 성립과 변천 양상을 살펴보는 데 목적을 둔다. 연구를 위해 『조선음악전집(가요편)』에 수록된 1945년부터 1981년까지 1,004곡의 악보를 활용하여 내용과 형식 측면에서 양적 내용분석을 시도하였다. 분석 결과 『조선음악전집(가요편)』에 나타난 북한 가요의 내용적 측면은 사회주의 체제의‘조선민주주의인민공화국’강조로 시작하였으나, 1967년 이후 철저히 ‘수령’과 ‘후계자’ 중심으로 변화하였다. 다시 말해서 북한 가요의 성립 초기는 ‘조국’과 ‘김일성’ 세우기로, 그 이후는 주체음악 체계 구축을 위시하는 ‘김정일’ 세우기로 점철되어 있다. 내용이 우선하는 북한 음악의 특성상 악곡 갈래나 창작 분위기와 같은 형식적 측면 역시 내용을 보조하기위해 활용되고 있었다. 악곡 창작 형태는 북한 가요의 성립 초기부터 변화하는 과정에서 모두 양악식이 민요식보다 우세함으로써 북한이 ‘민족음악’을 우선시한다는 선전 현실과 부합하지 않는다는 점을 발견했다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine the establishment and evolution of North Korean songs through the 『Complete Collection of Joseon Music (Songs Edition)』. For the study a quantitative content analysis was attempted in terms of content and form using the scores of 1,004 songs from 1945 to 1981 included in the 『Complete Collection of Joseon Music (Songs Edition)』. As a result of the analysis, the content aspect of North Korean songs shown in 『Collection of Joseon Music (Songs Edition)』 began with an emphasis on the ‘Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’ under the socialist system. However after 1967, the content completely changed to focus on ‘Suryong’ and ‘heir’. In other words, the early stages of the establishment of North Korean songs emphasized ‘the fatherland’ and ‘Kim Il-sung’, and the subsequent period stressed the settlement of the Juche music system and ‘Kim Jong-il’. Due to the nature of North Korean music where content is given priority, formal aspects such as the type of piece or atmosphere played a role in supporting the content. In terms of the creative form of music, the Western style was superior to the folk song style from the beginning of the establishment of North Korean songs. Therefore, I found that it did not correspond to the propaganda reality that North Korea prioritizes ‘national music’.
