다문화가정 자녀 대상 한국어 교재의 한국어 발달 측면에서의 적합성 - 초등학교 저학년의 언어 발달을 중심으로

국문 초록

국내 여성결혼이민자와 외국인 노동자가 급격히 늘어나면서 한국은 다문화 사회로 빠르게 변화하고 있다. 다문화가정이 늘어나면서 2006년 이후부터 다문화가정 자녀들의 교육 문제가 사회 문제로 떠올랐다. 이들은 외국인 부모님 밑에서 자랐기 때문에 같은 또래의 일반가정 자녀들에 비해 한국어 발달 정도가 늦다. 이러한 언어적 격차는 다문화가정 자녀들이 초등학교 교육현장에서 더욱 심각하게 드러났다. 이 차이를 좁히기 위해 다문화가정 자녀대상 한국어 교재를 개발하여 한국어 능력을 향상시키고 학습 문제까지 개선하고자 하였다. 하지만 실제 교육 현장에서는 이러한 교재들을 많이 쓰고 있지 않고 있다. 또한 교재의 내용에 있어서도 의문을 제기하는 경우가 많다. 따라서 이러한 교재들을 언어 사용 측면, 언어 지식 측면, 문학 측면으로 나누어 살펴보고 다문화가정 자녀 대상 한국어 교재가 다문화가정 자녀들의 언어 수준을 일반가정 자녀들의 수준까지, 공교육에서 말하는 학년별 언어 수준까지 끌어올릴 수 있는지 알 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. 더 나아가 부진한 교과 학습에 대한 효과에 대해서도 살펴볼 것이다.

영문 초록

As the number of domestic female marriage immigrants and foreign workers increase rapidly, Korea is developing as a multicultural society as well. As the number of multicultural homes increase, the education issue of multicultural homes' children has emerged as a social issue after 2006. Children from multicultural homes have been brought up under foreign parents, and their pace of Korean language development is slower than other homes' children of the same age. Such issue was found to be more critical in elementary education settings for children from multicultural homes. In other words, the difference in Korean language ability between children from multicultural homes and children from regular homes is getting larger. In order to reduce such difference, Korean language textbook targeting children from multicultural homes was developed to improve Korean language ability and learning issues. However, such textbooks are not being used in actual learning settings. Also, there are questions about the contents of textbooks. This research will examine such textbooks from the aspects of language usage, language knowledge and literature, and inspect if Korean language textbooks targeting children from multicultural homes can bring up the language levels of children from multicultural homes to the level of children from regular homes and language level per grade stated by public education. Furthermore, its contribution to weak subject learning will be analyzed. More children from multicultural homes are expected to enter elementary schools in a future. Proper low grade Korean language education must be implemented in order to prevent difficulties in learning caused by insufficient fundamental Korean language ability and subsequent difficulties in social and school life.
