新羅國母廟로서의 神宮

국문 초록

始祖가 誕降한 奈乙에 세웠다는 신라 神宮은 主神이 누구인가를 둘러싼 첨예한 논란이 있다. 이를 해명하기 위해 우선 赫居世가 탄강한 蘿井에 대한 검토를 시도했다. 이를 우물로 간주하지만, 실상 나정을 우물로 볼 증거는 없었다. 오히려 그것은 井자 모양으로 구획된 땅을 지칭할 가능성이 큰 것으로 드러난다. 특히 蘿라는 말로 볼 때, 이곳은 덩굴식물이 우거진 곳일 수도 있었다. 신궁은 宗廟의 일종이었다. 그런데 종묘로서의 신궁은 신라뿐만 아니라 고대 중국에도 있었으며, 고구려에도, 그리고 백제에도 있었다. 나아가 고대 일본에서도 伊勢神宮으로 대표되는 신궁이 있었다. 검토 결과 이웃 문화권 모든 신궁이 國母의 사당으로 드러났다. 이는 그 主神이 아직 해명되지 않은 신라 신궁의 그것을 밝히는 데도 결정적인 역할을 한다. 즉, 시조가 탄강한 곳에 세웠다는 신라 신궁 또한 국모를 위한 사당이었던 것이다. 이렇게 되자 奈乙과 함께 시조가 初生한 곳이라는 나정 또한 글자 그대로는 덩굴식물이 우거진 구획된 땅이지만, 그런 시조를 낳은 생명의 근원, 즉, 여성의 陰部일 수 있다는 추정도 가능하게 됐다.

영문 초록

According to the Silla annals of the Samguk sagi, the Royal Shrine of Silla was founded in the birthplace of the projenitor Hyeokgeose(赫居世) of the Kingdom during the reign of King Soji or Jijeung(479 514 A.D.). However, it is disputable over who the Shrine Shingung(神宮) was dedicated to. Is there any solution to the question, and if so, how can we do it?I suggest a comparative study of the Shrine systems in Ancient East Asia. It would be efficient, because the Royal Shrines were common in the region. As a result, we can find the Royal Shrine started in Ancient China Kingdom Zhou(周), and it was dedicated to the mother of Houji, the projenitor of the kingdom. Moreover, those kinds of Shrine for the Mother of the Royal Family are spotted in Goguryeo and Baekje as well. And it is well known that the Ise Grand Shrine in ancient Japan was founded to hold memorial services for Goddess Amaterasu-ōmikami, who was the ruler of the Higher Celestial Plain(Takamagahara) and was said to be directly linked in lineage to the Imperial Household of Japan and the Emperor. Therefore, Japanese Tennos fancied themselves to be descendants of the Goddess. This helps find out who the Royal Shrine of Silla was didicated. It was for the Mother of Hyeokgeose, the projenitor of the Royal Family of Silla!
