국문 초록

김종삼의 시는 한국현대시의 변화 과정을 뚜렷하게 보여준다는 점에서 김수영과 김춘수와 더불어 중요하게 살필 필요가 있는 시인이다. 일제 강점과 해방과 분단과 전쟁 등으로 이어지는 한국현대사의 격변을 현장에서 경험하면서 그 과정에서 비롯하는 감정의 양상을 빼어난 시로 형상화했다는 점에서 특히 더 그러하다. 고통스러운 현실을 인식하면서 받아들이고, 현실을 어떻게든 변화시킴으로써 자신의 삶에도 변화를 주고자 한 데서 발생하는 김종삼 시는 타인의 시선과 기존 규범을 인식하면서도 새로운 가능성과 희망을 찾는 과정에서 발생한다. 답답함과 쓸쓸함을 느끼게 하는 세계의 구조는 한 개인이 극복할 수 있는 것이 아니지만 어쩔 수 없는 것을 받아들이는 과정에서 미약하나마 극복의 가능성이 점쳐지기도 한다. 김종삼 시에 나타나는 감정은 대개 슬픔과 쓸쓸함과 서러움인 경우가 많다. 이러한 부정적인 슬픔의 감정은 강력하게 작용하는 외부의 충격을 받아들이는 과정에서 발생한다. 외부의 자극에 노출되어 그것을 받아들이기만 할 뿐 그에 대한 유의미한 반응을 할 수 없다는 데서 슬픔이 비롯하는 것이다. 그러나 소극적으로 반응하는 데서부터 변화의 가능성은 내포되어 있다. 그러한 반응이 자신의 삶의 지반에 대한 깨치게 하고, 어떤 형태로든 반응하게 함으로써 외부의 세계에 변화를 가하기 때문이다. 쓸쓸함과 슬픔과 같은 부정적이고 소극적인 감정은, 그것을 어쩔 수 없는 것으로 받아들이는 이에게는 변화 가능성이 전혀 없는 것으로 여겨지지만 그러한 삶의 바탕을 투철한 시선으로 객관적으로 보는 이에게는 완전히 새로운 미래에 대한 꿈을 제공하기도 한다. 삶은 슬프고 서러운 것이지만 그러한 사실을 인지하고 받아들이는 이에게는 새로운 가능성이라는 선물이 주어지는 것이다. 김종삼 시에 나타나는 감정의 양상을 살피면서 얻은 결론은 그러한 감정이 단지 수동적이거나 부정적인 것만이 아니라 능동적이고 긍적적인 것으로 바뀔 수 있는 출발점이 된다는 데 있다 하겠다. 그리하여 슬픔의 감정은 개인의 범위를 넘어 공동체에 대한 연대에까지 이를 수 있는 가능성을 내포하는 중요한 계기가 되는 것이다.

영문 초록

Kim Jong-sam, along with Kim Su-young and Kim Chun-su, is a poet who needs to be looked at as important in that it clearly shows the process of change in modern Korean poetry. This is especially true in that he experienced the upheaval of modern Korean history leading to Japanese colonial rule, liberation, division, and war, and embodied the emotional aspects that arose during that process in excellent poetry. Kim Jong-sam's poetry arises from the recognition and acceptance of painful reality and his desire to change his own life by somehow changing reality. It arises from the process of finding new possibilities and hope while recognizing the perspectives of others and existing norms. The structure of the world that causes feelings of frustration and loneliness is not something that a single individual can overcome, but in the process of accepting the inevitable, there is a possibility, however faint, of overcoming it. The emotions that appear in Kim Jong-sam's poetry are often sadness and loneliness. These negative feelings of sadness arise in the process of accepting powerful external shocks. Sadness comes from being exposed to external stimuli and only accepting them but being unable to respond meaningfully to them. However, the possibility of change is implied in the passive response. This is because such reactions make one realize the basis of one's life and cause change in the external world by reacting in some form. Negative and passive emotions such as loneliness and sadness are seen as having no possibility of change at all for those who accept them as inevitable, but for those who objectively look at the basis of such life with a clear perspective, it is a sign of a completely new future. It also provides dreams. Life is sad and sorrowful, but the gift of new possibilities is given to those who recognize and accept that fact. The conclusion obtained by examining the aspects of emotions that appear in Kim Jong-sam's poetry is that such emotions are not just passive or negative, but serve as a starting point for changing them into active and positive ones. Thus, the feeling of sadness becomes an important opportunity that contains the possibility of reaching beyond the scope of the individual and reaching solidarity with the community.
