국문 초록

우리가 살아가는 세상은 참으로 다양하다. 신의 속성이 단순성과 통일성이라면, 단연 피조세계의 속성은 변화무쌍한 다양성일 것이다. 이 세상은 다양한 학문들이 있다. 저마다 각자의 독특한 특성들을 가지고 있다. 그러나 삼위일체 하나님은 창조세계에 자신의 흔적(stigma Dei)를 남겨 두었다. 그래서 인간은 다양성 속에서 살아가면서 신의 속성인 통일성을 신학에서는 계시로 알 수 있다면, 과학에서는 연구와 탐구로 알 수 있는 것이다. 또는 이 두 학문을 포괄할 수 있는 용어인 발견(discovery)되어지는 것을 통하여 알 수도 있다. 16C 종교개혁자인 칼빈의 신학 속에서 나타나는 융합적 학문의 내용을 살펴보고, 나아가서 신학과 과학이 서로 다른 길만을 고집할 것이 아니라 대화가 필요함을 제안한다. 신학에서는 철학적 요소가 많이 있다. 이와 마찬가지로 과학에서도 철학적 요소가 많이 있다. 과학은 그 시작이 철학에서부터 출발한 학문이기에 언제든지 다시 철학으로 돌아갈 것이다. 그리고 최근에 들어서서 과학은 그 한계를 넘어서는 질문에 궁금증을 갖기 시작했다. 과학은 How question이 중요한 학문이다. 그러나 과학은 최근에 신학과 철학의 영역인 Why question을 묻기 시작했다. 이는 전형적인 신학과 과학의 영역에 속하는 질문이다. 신학 역시도 삼위일체 하나님이 창조한 자연(nature)과 역사(history) 속에서 하나님의 섭리가 어떻게 드러나는지는 항상 중요한 문제이다. 신학과 과학은 이제 서로의 필요를 인식하고 있다. 유럽에서는 이미 이러한 통합적 작업이 시작되었지만, 한국에서는 아직도 비교적 생소한 분야이다. 어찌 보면 서양은 학문의 토대가 기독교이기에 당연한 일이지 모르나, 한국적 상항은 좀 다르다고 볼 수 있겠다. 칼빈의 신학을 살펴봄으로써 신학과 과학철학간의 유사성과 연관성이 있음을 알리는데 이 논문의 목적이 있다.

영문 초록

There is lots of diversity in the world in which we live. While the attributes of God are simplicity and unity, the attributes of the created world will be by far a changeable diversity. We have the various fields of study in the world. The respective branch of study has its own particular feature. The triune God, however, has left his mark(stigma Dei) on creation. Thus, human beings can live in diversity and know the unity of God as his attribute by means of revelation, a theological term, or by means of research and inquiry, a scientific term. Or it can be known through discovery, which is a term that can include these two areas. This paper deals with the contents of the convergent discipline that appears in the theology of Calvin, the Reformer of the 16th century, and suggests that theology and science should not only cling to different path but also need dialogue. There are many philosophical elements in theology. Likewise, there are many philosophical elements in science. And since science is a discipline that started from philosophy at the beginning, it will return to philosophy at any time. And science, recently, has begun to wonder about questions beyond the limit. In science, How Questions are so much important. Recently, the importance of Why Questions, however, have begun to be raised in the field of theology and philosophy. This is a typical area of existing theology, and it is always an important issue how the providence of God is revealed both in nature and in history, which means the world created by the triune God. Theology and science now recognize the mutual needs. This integrated work has already begun in Europe, but it is still relatively unfamiliar in Korea. In some ways, the West may be natural because the soil of discipline is based on Christianity, but the Korean situation is somewhat different. The purpose of this thesis is to clarify and inform that there is a similarity and connection between theology and philosophy of science by examining Calvin's theology.
