국문 초록

현대사회를 관통하는 담론 중 하나가 바로 ‘포스트모더니즘’이다. 복음주의 신학에서 포스트모더니즘은 기독교 신앙 및 신학과 대립하는 요소로 인식하였으나, 과정 신학자 데이비드 레이 그리핀은 포스트모더니즘의 담론을 수용하고 재해석하여 기독교 신학과 세계관을 구성하려는 시도를 보였다. 그리핀의 주장은 포스트모던이란 시대정신을 수용하는 한편, 포스트모던의 허무주의를 극복하는 건설적 포스트모더니즘을 구성하고자 한다. 그는 화이트헤드의 사유를 중심으로 과학과 종교를 비록 온갖 양자 대립적인 요소를 통합할 수 있는 포스트모던적 기독교 세계관을 구성한다. 그리핀의 주장은 자연주의적이고 유물론적인 사유가 중심이 되어가는 현대에 이성적인 기독교 세계관을 구성하려 하며, 그 시도를 기독교 신학의 전적인 재해석을 토대로 이루고자 한다는 점에서 흥미와 논란을 불러일으켰다. 본 논문은 그리핀의 포스트모던 신학과 세계관의 방법론적 토대가 되는 과정 형이상학의 존재론을 살펴보고자 한다. 본 논문은 그리핀의 방법론이 철학적 방법론과 우리의 경험에서 착수하는 ‘아래로부터의 신학’을 중심으로 구성하고 있음에 집중한다. 그의 주장의 핵심이 되는 자연주의적 유신론 그리고 그리핀이 이해하는 포스트모던의 정의에 관하여 고찰하고 그가 지향하는 ‘건설적 포스트모던’ 신학과 기독교 세계관의 지향점을 살펴본다. 이 논문은 복음주의적 관점에서 그리핀의 주장을 비평하고 그의 학문적 문제의식이 가진 공헌과 단점을 평가하고자 한다. 그리고 결론적으로 건실한 기독교 세계관을 구성하기 위한 제안을 제시하고자 노력한다.

영문 초록

Postmodernism is a central phenomenon in modern society. Evangelical Christian theology considers postmodernism uncoordinate with Christian faith. However, Process theologian David Ray Griffin embraces postmodernism and presents postmodern Christian theology. He accepts postmodern discourse and tries to overcome the problems of postmodern discourse. He defines the generally accepted postmodernism as 'eliminative postmodernism'. This led to nihilism and extreme relativism. On the other hand, Griffin defines his postmodernism as constructive postmodernism. This is a methodology that constructs a worldview instead of dismantling it. Griffin presents a Christian worldview and Christian theology suitable for the postmodern era by giving up supernaturalism. He uses Whitehead's Process Metaphysics to construct his postmodern worldview. In process metaphysics, God is not the power to control everything, and God is considered to be the one who leads by persuading creatures. Therefore, God is a naturalistic god who cannot exert supernatural power. He presents Christian theology and the Christian worldview centering on the naturalistic concept of God. Griffin believes that such a worldview can resolve the confrontation between religion and science. There is a question of whether a naturalistic God can be said to be the God of Christianity and the God of the Bible. This study examines Griffin's definition of postmodernism. And this study examines the concept and ontology of God in process metaphysics, which is Griffin's methodological foundation. Next, this study critically evaluates all of these after examining Griffin's proposed definition of naturalist theism. This study evaluates Griffin's methodology from the perspective of evangelical theology.
