양태진(1992)의 「朝鮮 唱妓에 關한 書誌的 考察」에 대한 학술적 검증 및 오류 정정

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』에 관한 최초의 서지적 연구라고 할 수 있는 양태진(1992)의 「朝鮮 唱妓에 關한 書誌的 考察」에서 발견되는 다양한 학술적 오류들과 왜곡된 내용들을 당대의 사료와 관련 자료들을 근거로 하나하나 조목조목 실제적으로 검증하였고, 이에 대한 오류 정정 작업을 진행하였다. 이는 「朝鮮 唱妓에 關한 書誌的 考察」이 ‘유곽(遊廓)’, ‘기생(妓生)’, ‘창기(娼妓)’, ‘몸을 팔게 함’, ‘통감부 『妓生통제문서』’, ‘野話’, ‘서울의 기생들의 활동을 통제감시하고자 한 일련의 문서들’ 등과 같이 ‘기생 관련 내용들’과 ‘창기 관련 내용들’이 비논리적으로 무분별하게 뒤섞여 있어 이 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』의본질적인 성격을 상당히 변질시키고 있고, 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』에 실린당시 ‘근대식 기생제도’ 하의 전문 예술인이었던 기생(妓生)과 ‘공창제도’ 하의 전문 매춘부였던 창기(娼妓)의 존재적 실체가 사(史)실과는 달리 크게 왜곡되어 있기때문이다. 그리고 이러한 「朝鮮 唱妓에 關한 書誌的 考察」의 학술적 오류들과 왜곡된 내용들은 현재까지도 어떠한 의심이나 검증없이 ‘국가기록원 홈페이지’와 ‘조선총독부 기록물 홈페이지’에 그대로 탑재되어 관련 연구자들뿐만 아니라 일반인들에게까지도 그대로 제공되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서 지적·정정된 내용들을 바탕으로 각 홈페이지에서의 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』의 내용들을 올바르게정정하여 전 국민들에게 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』에 관한 정확하고 올바른정보를 전달·제공해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study used the resources and related data of the time to investigate various academic errors and distortions found in the [Bibliographic Study on Changgi of Joseon Dynasty] by Yang Taejin (1992), which is the first bibliographic study on the [Records of Gisaeng and Prostitute] and corrected the relevant errors. The [Bibliographic Study on Changgi of Joseon Dynasty] considerably degenerates the fundamental characteristics of the [Records of Gisaeng and Prostitute] because it mixes “documents related to Gisaeng” and “documents related to prostitute” illogically, such as “prostitute quarter,” “Gisaeng,” “prostitute”, “forced prostitution,” “Gisaeng Control Document” by the Resident-General, “unofficial story,” and “a series of documents to control and monitor the Gisaeng in Seoul.” The [Bibliographic Study on Changgi of Joseon Dynasty] also largely distorted the historical fact that the Gisaeng was a professional entertainer under the “Modern Gisaeng System” and that the prostitute was a professional prostitute under the “Licensed Prostitution System” when they were recorded in the [Records of Gisaeng and Prostitute] in the past. Moreover, the academic errors and distortions of the [Bibliographic Study on Changgi of Joseon Dynasty] are still posted on the websites of the “National Archives of Korea” and the “ National Archives of Korea, Government-General of Korea Records” without any verification or doubt. They are open to relevant researchers and even the general public. Thus, it is necessary for each website to correct the [Records of Gisaeng and Prostitute] based on items that are pointed out and corrected in this study and deliver and provide the correct and accurate information of the [Records of Gisaeng and Prostitute] to the public.
