영문 초록

Throughout the past, Yeokhakseos of Sayeokwon have been the essential research subject for the history of Korean language, although the purpose for most of those cases have been purely for the grammar-oriented analysis, in retrospect of the language’s phoneme, grammar, and meanings. With these Yeokhakseos as they were the guides to the foreign language education, we are able to trace the historical change in foreign education in Korea. This thesis attempts to examine Yeokhakseo of Sayeokwon, especially focusing on “Nogeoldae” types among Chinese textbooks, as foreign language guide. Not only the study investigates the historical evolution of “Nogeoldae” as a foreign language guide, it also proposes certain understanding of its characteristics through the views of contemporary foreign language professors and education system, thus seeking possible suggestion for publishing foreign language guide for the future.
