국문 초록

본 연구는 일본 특별지원학교 교육과정인 자립활동에 주목하여 자립활동의 내용과 특징을 살펴보고 구체적인 사례를 통해 자립활동의 의의에 대해 논의함으로써 한국 특수교육 교육과정에 대한 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 자립활동은 장애 학생이 장애로 인한 학습 및 생활의 어려움을 주체적으로 개선, 극복하도록 하는 지도로 정의된다. 자립활동의 내용은 건강 유지, 심리적 안정, 인간관계 형성, 환경 파악, 신체 움직임, 의사소통의 6개 요소로 나뉘고 각 요소마다 세분화된 총 27개의 항목으로 제시되어 있다. 자립활동은 ICF 개념에 기반하고 있어 장애 학생의 생활기능과 장애 상태를 환경요인과의 상호작용에서 파악하여 지도한다는 점과 교과 등의 학습과 상호보완적인 관계에 있어 장애 학생의 조화로운 발달의 기반이 된다는 점, 장애 유형 및 정도, 배치 환경에 구애받지 않고 개별 학생의 교육적 요구를 지도할 수 있다는 점에서 한국 특수교육 교육과정에 주는 시사점을 찾을 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the Activities to Promote Independence, a specialized field in the curriculum of special needs schools in Japan. It aims to propose suggestions for the curriculum of special education in Korea through exploring the characteristics and significance of Activities to Promote Independence. Activities to Promote Indepencende is instruction for children with disabilities for them to improve and overcome their difficulties in learning and life, independently. The contents of the Activities to Promote Independence are comprised of the six elements: health maintenance, psychological stability, relationships, acclimatization in the environment, physical movement, and communication. The following are the characteristics and significance of Activities to Promote Independence. First, Activities to Promote Independence makes it possible to understand actual condition of each child with disabilities based on the ICF, and to design individual teaching goals. Second, it is mutually complementary relationships with their academic subjects. Third, it is a specialized field of special needs schools curriculum that can respond to the educational needs of each child with disabilities regardless of the type or degree of disability. It is also applicable to children with disabilities enrolled in elementary, lower secondary and high schools. We considered that these three points are important in enhancing the special education curriculum in Korea.
