국문 초록

생태학적 교육과정(ecological curriculum)은 지적 및 발달장애학생의 독립적인 생활을 위해 현재와 미래의 다양한 환경에서 요구되는 생활기술을 체계적으로 가르치려는 교육과정을 구성하는데 있어서 중요한 관점 중의 하나이다. 특수교육의 궁극적인 목적은 학생의 능력을 최대한 개발하여 현재 생활에 적응할 뿐만 아니라 학교 졸업 이후에 살아가게 되는 다양한 생태학적 환경(예: 가정, 학교, 지역사회, 직장 등)에서 최대한 독립적으로 살아가는데 필요한 자립생활 역량을 키우는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 생태학적 환경에서 요구되는 기능적 생활기술을 체계화한 생태학적 교육과정 내용체계를 개발하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 최근 30년간 국내외 생태학적 교육과정과 관련된 문헌 및 선행연구를 분석하여 생태학적 교육과정의 개념을 정립하고, 교육과정의 공통 영역과 내용요소를 추출하였다. 그리고 관련 분야의 전문가를 대상으로 설문을 통해 수정, 보완 후 델파이 조사를 실시하여 교육과정 내용체계에 대한 타당성을 검증하였다. 그 결과 가정생활, 학교생활, 지역사회생활, 직장생활로 이루어진 생태학적 교육과정 대영역 4개의 환경을 중심으로 중영역 14개, 내용요소 67개, 활동기술 218개로 구성된 생태학적 교육과정 내용체계를 개발하였다. 생태학적 교육과정의 내용체계는 지적 및 발달장애학생이 현재 또는 미래의 독립생활에 필요한 기능적 생활기술을 학령기 동안 연계적이고 지속적이며 체계적으로 교수․학습하는데 필요한 핵심적인 기초자료로 활용할 수 있으며, 생태학적 교육과정 모형 및 구체적인 프로그램을 개발하는 근거가 될 것이다. 아울러 현재 특수교육 기본 교육과정의 패러다임을 교과 중심에서 기능적이고 생태학적 교육과정으로의 변화를 촉구하여 특수교육의 궁극적인 목적인 장애학생의 실제적인 자립생활 역량을 높이는 교육이 교육현장에서 실제적으로 강조되는 것에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The ecological education curriculum has been one of the most important issues in the field of special education. The ultimate goal of special education is to maximize students’ capabilities to adapt themselves to diverse ecological environments, so that they can achieve competency to lead independent lives. The purpose of this study was to develop an ecological curriculum content structure for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Research methods to be utilized for the study were established and curriculum content areas and elements were selected through literature review and analyzing previous studies. Delphi surveys were conducted by a group of experts to validate the content structure of the ecological curriculum. The ecological curriculum content structure was based on the results of the literature review, the expert interview, and the delphi surveys. The results were as follows. The content areas of the ecological curriculum consisted of four categories: “Home Life”, “School Life”, “Community Life”, and “Vocational Life”. The sub-areas involved 14 items: “Personal Hygiene Management”, “Daily Life Self-Management”, “Food-Clothing-Shelter Management”, “Economic Life and Money Management”, “Safety and Health Management”, “School Life Basic Skill”, “Social Skill”, “Communication Skill”, “Self-Determination Skill”, “Functional Subject Skill”, “Community Participation”, “Leisure Life”, “Job Preparation Skill”, and “Job Life.” Seventy-seven content elements according to the sub-areas and 218 activity skills according to the content elements were developed. This content structure helps students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn functional skills required in various ecological environments systematically, depending on the level of each individual student. This ecological curriculum content structure will also be a useful resource to establish comprehensive life-long plans and to assess the individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities even after completing their schooling at each stage of the life cycle by their families and life-long educational institutes.
