국문 초록

차는 건강상의 이점 때문에 매우 가치가 높은 인기 있는 음료이다. 흥미롭게도, 필리핀 가정 내에서는 여가를 위한 소비보다 종종 약초 치료법으로 활용된다. 그러나 최근 차 소비의 동향에 있어 치료법의 목적에서 일상 중 여가 목적으로도 활용되는 등 차산업은 빠른 상승세를 겪고 있다. 이 상승 추세는 필리핀 차 산업의 미래 성장에 대한 강력한 기반을 마련할 것으로 사료된다. 2020년 필리핀은 1700만 달러 가치의 차 수입을 하며 세계 69 위를 차지했으며 차는 필리핀에서 가장 많이 수입품 중 516위를 차지했다. 필리핀은 기후, 불충분한 사회 기반시설 및 산성 토양과 같은 요인들 때문에 차 생산에 있어 고군분투하고 있다. 그러나 정부는 차 산업 육성노력에망설이지 않고 차 산업의 발전 궤도를 지원하기 위해 연구 개발 노력에 수반되는 자금 문제, 특히 우롱차 시장에대한 연구 개발을 목표로 두고 있다. 생산과 산업 개발을 강화하려는 정부 및 민간 부문의 노력, 특히 젊은이들 사이에서 증가하는 수요는 필리핀이 세계 차 시장에서 틈새를 개척하려는 잠재력에 기여한다.

영문 초록

Tea is a popular drink highly valued for its health benefits. Interestingly, within the Filipino household, it is often regarded as an herbal remedy instead of a lifestyle drink to be consumed at leisure. However, in recent years, tea consumption has undergone a transformation swiftly evolving from a remedy to a lifestyle choice. This rising trend sets a strong foundation for the industry's future growth in the Philippines. In 2020, the Philippines ranked 69th globally with tea imports aggregating $17 million. In the same year, tea ranked 516th among the country’s most imported products. The Philippines struggles to produce tea on a large scale due to factors such as climate, inadequate infrastructure, and soil acidity. However, the government is undeterred in its efforts to nurture and cultivate the tea industry and aims to support the industry's development trajectory and tackle the funding challenges that accompany research and development endeavors, particularly in the oolong tea market. The increasing demand, especially among the younger population, along with the efforts of the government and private sector to enhance production and develop the industry, have contributed to its potential. This will enable the Philippines to carve out a niche in the global tea market.
