국문 초록

이 연구에서는 단위 학교의 프로젝트 학습 운영에 대한 교사들의 인식을 A 중학교의 사례를 중심으로 살펴보았다. A 중학교는 미래형 혁신학교로, 전 학년 학생들이 ‘자율 프로젝트’에 참여하고 있다. A 중학교 교사 15명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 교사 4명을 대상으로 면담을 실시하였다. 설문 및 면담 문항 내용은 학생들에게 기대한 것, 학생들의 흥미, 참여도, 주도적인 능력 향상, 긍정적인 영향 등에 대한 의견, 지도하면서 보람을 느끼는 정도, 어려움, 필요한 지원 등이었다. 연구 결과, 교사들은 ‘자율 프로젝트’의 취지에 동의하였고, 학생들의 자기 주도적인 능력이 향상되기를 기대하였다. 교사들은 ‘자율 프로젝트’에 대한 학생들의 흥미도와 참여도가 높고, 학생들의 자기 주도적인 능력이 향상되었다고 판단하였다. 교사들은 ‘자율 프로젝트’를 지도하면서 학생들이 성장하는 모습을 보면서 보람을 느꼈다. 그런데 지도를 하면서 학생들의 활동에 개입해야 하는 정도, 흥미가 낮은 학생들의 동기 유발 방법, 다양한 주제에 대한 지원과 관리 등의 어려움이 있었고, 외부 전문가의 지원, 안내 자료 등이 필요하다고 하였다. 교사들의 인식 조사 결과에 근거하여 프로젝트 학습 운영에 대한 제언으로 지역 사회와 연계하여 운영하는 방안, 프로젝트 학습 운영을 위한 안내 자료의 제작 및 보급, 단위 학교의 교사학습공동체에서 프로젝트 학습 운영에 대한 지속적인 논의 등을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigated teachers’ perception on the implementation of project-based leaning in A middle school, a future-oriented innovative school where all students participate in student-led projects. A survey was conducted with 15 teachers, and interviews were conducted with 4 teachers from the school. The survey and interview questions included expectations of students, opinions on students’ interest, levels of participation, improvement in self-directed ability, positive influence of student-led projects, degree of satisfaction while providing guidance, difficulties, and necessary support. The results indicated that the teachers agreed on the purpose of the student-led projects and expected students’ self-directed ability to improve. The teachers evaluated that students’ interest and participation in the student-led project were high, and that the students’ self-directed ability had improved. The teachers also felt rewarded while watching the students grow. However, there were difficulties such as the degree of involvement in students’ activities while providing guidance, how to motivate students with low interest, and how to support the management of various topics. Additionally, they felt the need for external expert support and guidance materials. Based on the results, the following suggestions are made: project-based learning can be implemented in connection with the local community, guide materials need to be produced and distributed, and discussion on project learning needs to be continued in the school teachers’ professional learning community.
