구강건강교육에 대한 아동의 반응

국문 초록

본 연구는 구강건강교육 경험에 대한 미국 일부 아동의 반응을 살펴보고자 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 미국 캘리포니아주 S 지역의 J 공립초등학교 방과 후 프로그램에서 구강건강교육을 받은 1-2학년 아동 중 10명의 아동이 참여하였다. 이들 아동을 대상으로 심층 면담을 하였다. 면담 내용은 녹음되었고 수집자료는 범주화하여 질적분석을 하였다. 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동들은 구강건강교육에 대한 저항 반응을 보였다. 둘째, 아동들은 치약의 불소, 가글 액 성분의 위험성에 대한 불안감, 혼돈의 모습을 보였다. 셋째, 아동들은 구강건강교육 교육자, 교육 방법에 대한 흥미, 구강건강과 건치에 대한 기대, 구강건강 관리를 위한 결심을 나타내었다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 치약 및 구강용품의 안전성, 지속적인 아동건강 교육, 부모를 대상으로 하는 구강건강교육, 취약계층, 낙후 지역 아동을 위한 구강건강교육을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to examine the responses of some children in United States to dental care program experiences. For this, 10 children among the children who participated dental care program at the J public elementary school after-school program in, California, US. In-depth interviews were conducted with the children participating in the study. The collected data were categorized and qualitative analysis were conducted. The results were as follows: First, children showed resistance to dental care program. Second, children showed anxiety and confusion about the dangers of fluoride in toothpaste and mouthwash ingredients. Third, children showed interest in dental care program educators, educational methods, expectations for oral health and healthy teeth, and determination for dental care programs. Based on the above conclusions, the safety of toothpaste and oral care products, dental care programs for parents as well as children, continuous dental care program for children in vulnerable groups and underdeveloped regions were proposed.
