초등학교에서 사물인터넷(IoT) 교육을 위한 교육과정 및 IoT 체험 장치의 개발과 적용

국문 초록

이 연구는 초등학교에서의 사물인터넷 관련 내용의 교육을 위한 교육과정(안)과 사물인터넷을 체험할 수 있는 장치를 개발하고, 개발된 사물인터넷 장치를 실제 교육현장에 적용하여 초등학생을 위한 사물인터넷 교육 자료로써 적절한지 평가하는 것이다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교에서의 사물인터넷 교육을 위한 교육과정(안)을 2022 개정 교육과정의 내용체계 형태로 제안하였다. 둘째, 초등학교에서의 사물인터넷 교육을 위한 기본 단계 4종류와 심화 단계 3종류의 사물인터넷 장치를 개발하였고, 장치를 구성하고 작동시킬 때 참고할 수 있는 안내 자료를 개발하였으며, 안내 자료는 초등학생들이 참고하기에 적절하였다고 하였다. 셋째, 초등학생들은 사물인터넷 자체가 무엇인지와 우리 생활 어디에 활용되는지에 대해서는 어느 정도 이해하고 있었지만, 사물인터넷의 구성 요소와 작동 과정에 대해서는 잘 이해하지 못하고 있었다. 넷째, 초등학생들은 이 연구에서 개발한 사물인터넷 장치의 구성과 작동은 쉬웠고, 작동체험은 흥미로웠으며, 사물인터넷 장치의 구성 요소와 작동 과정 역시 잘 이해할 수 있었다고 하였다. 이에 따라 이 연구에서 개발한 사물인터넷 체험 장치는 초등학생들의 사물인터넷 교육 자료로써 적절하였다고 평가할 수 있었다. 다섯째, 초등학생들은 이 연구에서 개발한 사물인터넷 장치 외에 더 많은 종류의 사물인터넷 장치를 구성하고 작동하고 싶다고 하였으며, 사물인터넷은 앞으로 우리 생활에 더 많이 활용될 것이라고 하였다. 이에 따라 초등학생들은 사물인터넷이 더욱 발전되고 우리 생활에 더 많이 활용되어 생활을 편리하게 할 것이라 생각하고 있다는 것을 이해할 수 있었다. 여섯째, 초등학생들이 사물인터넷 관련 내용을 보다 상세하게 이해하고 더 많이 경험할 수 있도록 초등학교 교육과정에 시급히 도입하는 것이 필요하다고 판단되었다.

영문 초록

This study aims to develop a curriculum (draft) for the education of contents related to the Internet of Things (IoT) in elementary school setting and a device for such students to experience the IoT, and test the appropriateness of the device by applying it to the actual educational field. The results of the study are as follows. First, a curriculum (draft) for IoT education in elementary schools was proposed as the revision of the 2022 curriculum. Second, 4-basic and 3-advanced IoT devices for IoT education in elementary schools were developed as well as a guide for assembling and operating them. Third, although elementary school students had a certain understanding of what the IoT is and where it is used in our lives, they did not understand the components and operation process of it well. Fourth, elementary school students of the present analysis claimed that it was effortless to assemble and operate the developed IoT device, its user experience was interesting, and they were able to understand the components and operation process of the IoT device well. Fifth, students of this experiment declared their interest to assemble and operate more types of devices other than the ones developed in this research and revealed their opinion that the IoT would be used more in our lives in the future. Sixth, it was thought that it was urgently necessary to introduce IoT education in elementary schools so that students could understand more in detail and experience more. These results suggest that the hereby developed IoT experience device would be appropriate for further testing as an effective IoT educational material for elementary school students.
