국문 초록

종교개혁의 근본이 되는 진리는 ‘오직 믿음으로’ 즉 ‘이신칭의’ 교리이다. 죄인이 구원을 얻음은 우리의 행위나 선행이 근거가 아니라 오직 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 구원을 얻는 다는 진리다. 그러나 이 진리는 계속되는 공격을 받았다. 교회 일치운동이라든지 혹은 유대교적 문헌으로 바울 신학을 재해석하려는 ‘새 관점’ 학파들에 의해서 공격을 받았다. 이들은 결국 로마 가톨릭으로 돌아가려는 움직이라고 여기지 않을 수 없다. 그러나 로마 교회는 종교개혁 이전과 이후 그리고 현재까지 그들의 교리에는 아무런 변화가 없다. 트렌트 공의회 문서와 20세기에 출간된 『가톨릭교회 교리서』에서도 가톨릭교회는 자신의 교리를 조금도 변함없이 고수하고 있고 또한 율법의 행위 즉 인간의 행위의 협력을 통해서 의에 이름을 강력히 주장하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 로마 가톨릭과의 연합은 계속해서 시도되고 있다. 또한 새 관점 학파와 같은 부류들도 역시 종교 개혁 이전의 유대 문서로 돌아가야 한다는 주장으로 바울 신학을 재해석해서 종교개혁의 신학을 무력화 하려고 한다. 로마 교회는 여전히 종교개혁 이전의 신학인 오직 은혜가 아닌, 행위도 있어야 한다는 주장을 굽히지 않고 있다. 이들은 오직 은혜를 삭제하고 행위를 강조하므로 인간의 의를 하나님의 은혜의 공로에 더하는 행위 구원론의 길을 열고 있다. 이런 신학은 바울 시대에도 있었고, 종교개혁 시대에도 있었던 견해들로서 바울도, 루터와 칼빈도 경계했던 신학이다.

영문 초록

The fundamental truth of the Reformation is the doctrine of ‘justification by faith alone’. The truth that sinners are saved is not based on human’ deeds or good works, but only through faith in Jesus Christ. However, this truth has been continually attacked by “the new perspective” scholars who reinterpret Pauline theology using Jewish texts. Their claim is ultimately seen as a move to return to what the Roman Catholics believe. However, the Church of Rome has not changed in their doctrines before Reformation until now. Even in the documents of the Council of Trent and ‘The Catechism of the Catholic Church’ published in the 20th century, the Catholic Church adheres to its doctrines without any change. Also, they are making a strong claim to righteousness through the works of the Law, that is, through the cooperation of human works. Nevertheless, unionists continue to seek union with Roman Catholics. In addition, groups such as the new perspective school also attempt to neutralize the theology of the Reformation by reinterpreting Pauline theology using Jewish texts and claiming that it should return to pre-Reformation Jewish documents. The Church of Rome still maintains its pre-Reformation theology that there must be human’s works for salvation, not just God’s grace. They are opening the way for works soteriology, which adds human righteousness to God’s grace by eliminating ‘only grace’ and emphasizing human deeds. This kind of theology existed in the era of Paul and in the era of the Reformation; it is a theology that Paul, Luther, and Calvin opposed.
