金在兢의 『花史評林』 연구

국문 초록

『花史評林』은 역사서의 양식을 본뜬 화훼 가전 작품집으로 그간 존재만 언급되었을 뿐 실제 연구되지는 않았다. 본고는 이러한 『화사평림』의 창작 의식과 특징을 분석하고자 시도하였다. 우선 『화사평림』의 저자 金在兢은 光山 金氏로 노론계 주요 가문에 속하였지만 증조부를 비롯하여 부친까지 과거에 오르지 못하였고 자신도 대과에 급제하지 못하였기에 정치적으로 출세길이 단절된 처지였다. 그리하여 그는 강원도 洪川에서 권력이나 영화와는 거리가 먼 삶을 살아가며 원예에 대한 취미로 다수의 문학을 남겼다. 『화사평림』 역시 그러한 그의 문학적 성취이다. 『화사평림』은 『史記』의 紀傳體 양식에 따라 본기․세가․열전 형태의 가전 7편으로 구성되어 있으며, 이들 작품은 부분적으로 서사가 교차되면서 단일한 가전 작품의 단선적 서사 구조를 탈피한다. 이는 김재긍이 화훼와 관련한 가상의 세계를 보다 입체적으로 구축하고자 한 결과라고 할 수 있다. 한편 『화사평림』에는 당대 시대상과 작가의 처지와 관련한 창작 의식이 투영되어 있다. 이를 요약하면, 첫째, 세도정치로 외척에 의해 국정운영이 이뤄졌던 당대 정치 현실을 우회적으로 비판하려는 의식이다. 둘째, 지방의 소외된 지식인으로서 은거․수신․문장을 통해 자아실현을 이루려는 의식과 셋째, 수사적 조탁을 통해서 드러낸 문장에 대한 자부와 과시 의식이다. 이상과 같은 『화사평림』은 19세기 화훼 가전 작품집의 사례 출현이라는 역사적 흐름을 증명하고 이 시기 문화의 주변부인 지방 지식인의 원예 취미를 바탕으로 한 문학적 표출 양상을 보여 주는 사례이다. 따라서 19세기 문학사에서 빼놓을 수 없는 주요한 자료라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

『Hwasapyeonglim』 is a collection of flower personification literature modeled after the style of history books. In the meantime, only the existence of this book has been mentioned and not actually studied. This study attempted to analyze the creative consciousness and characteristics of 『Hawasapyeonglim』. First of all, Kim Jae-geung, author of 『Hwasapyeonglim』, was born in the Noron Party strong family. But he was not politically rise. And he lived in the countryside and out of touch with political power. As a local intellectual, he actively engaged in academic and literary activities, and left a number of literary works with a hobby of gardening. 『Hawasapyeonglim』 is one of his literary achievements from hobby of gardening. Hawasapyeonglim imitated the style of the history presented in a series of biographies. And it consists of seven Flower Kajeon. Some of the contents intersect between the seven works. For this reason, it builds a three-dimensional narrative rather than a single Kajoen work. This is the result of Kim Jae-geung's comprehensive attempt to build a virtual world related to flowers. On the other hand, 『Hwasapyeonglim』 reflected the creative consciousness related to the times and the situation of the artist. In summary, this can be said in the following three ways. First, it is a critical consciousness of the Dominanace of the Royal In-Law Families of the time. Second, it is a ritual to achieve self-realization as a marginalized intellectual in the province. Third, it is a sense of pride and show-off about the sentence. As such, 『Hwasapyeonglim』 proves the trend of the emergence of the 19th century Flower Kajeon works and shows the literary pattern of expressing the horticultural hobbies of local intellectuals. Therefore, it is an important material that cannot be left out in the history of literature in the 19th century.
