선도대학 통일교육의 효과성 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 경기대가 2020년 통일교육 선도대학으로 선정된 후 학부생들에게실시한 통일교육이 그들의 통일역량 강화에 어떤 영향을 미치고 있는지를 알아보기 위해 경험분석을 하였다. 이는 그 변화 양상을 종합적으로 분석하여 통일교육에 대한 올바른 방향을 제시하고자 하는 것이다. 1차 조사는 선도대학에서 통일교육을 전혀 받지 않은 경기대 학부생 전체를 모집단으로 하여 통일역량을 측정하였다. 질문은 <평화통일 실현의지>, <융합적 안보의식>, <균형있는 북한관>, <평화의식>, <민주시민의식> 5개 항목 40문항으로 구성하였다. 2차 조사는 1차 조사와 달리 통일선도대학에서 개설한 통일교육 프로그램에 참여한 학부생만을 모집단으로 하여 통일역량을 측정하였다. 다만 2차 조사에서도 1차 조사와 동일한 질문지를 사용하였다. 최종적으로 1차 조사와 2차 조사에서 얻은 데이터를 비교분석하여 선도대학에서 통일교육을 받은 학생들의 통일역량의 변화량을 도출하였다. 그 결과 선도대학에서 통일교육을 받은 학생들의 통일역량지수는 평균 약 4.0포인트 높은 것으로 나타났다. 선도대학의 통일교육과 대학생들의통일역량 지수 사이에는 상관관계가 있다는 것을 방증하고 있다. 다만 경기대 학부생들의 통일역량지수는 1, 2차 조사 모두 저조한 것으로 나타났다. 특히 ‘균형있는 북한관’ 항목에 대한 통일역량 지수는 아주 저조했다. 이 항목에 대한 역량강화 교육이 시급하다. 결론적으로, 통일교육을 통한 학생들의 통일역량은 전방위적으로 강화해 나가야 하고, 대학 내 통일에 대한 다양한 프로그램을 더욱 확장하여 꾸준히 전개할 필요성이 있다. 통일교육은 정부의 강한 의지와 정파를 초월한 지속가능한 통일정책과 언론의 중립적 보도가 이루어질 때 발전하고 효과를 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

changes of unification education conducted by Kyonggi University to undergraduate students after selecting a leading unification education university in 2020, and to suggest a better direction for unification education. First, an index that can objectively measure students' unification capabilities was developed, and then the first unification capability index was measured for all undergraduate students before full-scale unification education was conducted. Since then, it has attempted to improve undergraduate awareness of North Korea and encourage unification capabilities through active and positive unification education that deals with inter-Korean issues in a balanced manner and thinks about the future of unification. At the end of the school year, the secondary unification capability index was measured only for undergraduate students who participated in the unification education program opened by the leading unification education university, and as a result, the unification capability index of undergraduate students rose by about 4.0 point. However, the unification capability index of Kyonggi University undergraduates was still low in all areas, as in the first survey. In other words, it is necessary to strengthen the unification capabilities of students in all directions, and to strengthen various subject, non-subject education and promotion of unification in universities. In particular, more careful efforts should be made to strengthen the capacity for the “balanced view of North Korea,” the most vulnerable area among students' unification capabilities. In short, unification education should be able to provide a sustainable unification education environment that transcends political factions, the will of the government, and neutral media reports on North Korea.
