관광전공자의 해외인턴십 참여의사와 문화간 민감성, 언어능력 간의 상관관계에 대한 연구

국문 초록

해외인턴십은 해외취업 기회의 제공과 교육과정의 국제화라는 측면에서 최근 관심을 끌고 있다. 이 연구는 이러한 배경에서 해외인턴십을 활성화함에 있어 중요하게 고려될 수 있는 요인들을 중심으로 해외인턴십 참여의사와의 관련성을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 해외인턴십이 활발하게 시행되고 한 대학 관광학부의 재학생을 대상으로 2015년 4월 13일부터 24일까지 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 총 238부의 유효 설문지를 분석에 사용하였다. 분석결과 관광전공 대학생의 문화간 민감성은 해외인턴십 참여의사와 유의미한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 요인분석 결과 나타난 문화간 민감성의 요소 중 문화간 차이 존중과 문화간 상호작용에 대한 적극적 태도가 중요한 요인으로 밝혀졌다. 그러나 기대했던 언어능력과 해외여행경험은 해외인턴십 참여의사와 유의미한 관계를 보여주지 못했다. 연구결과를 토대로 문화간 민감성과 관련된 교육과정의 개발 필요성과 기존 교육과정에서의 문화간 교육 필요성을 강조하였다.

영문 초록

Overseas internship has drawn interest from the academia in terms of the internationalization of the university curricula and the provision of international job opportunities. This study examined the relationship between the intention to participate in overseas internship, intercultural sensitivity and language ability of tourism majors. A survey was conducted in a university where internship abroad program is highly recognized among tourism students. A total of 238 responses were used for data analysis. The study results revealed that there is a significant relationship between intercultural sensitivity and the intention to participate in overseas internship. Particularly respect for cultural differences and interaction engagement are found to be important to increase the students' intention to join overseas internship. However, English language ability and the overseas travel experiences that are expected to be related to the intention to participate in overseas internship showed no significant relationship. Based on these findings, it was suggested that an intercultural course needs to be developed and included in the tourism curricula, while integrating intercultural contents in the existing tourism courses.
