한국 STEAM 교사연구회의 특징 분석: 우수 교사연구회 보고서를 중심으로

국문 초록

한국의 융합교육을 대표하는 STEAM 교육은 과학기술기반의 문제해결력과 융합적 사고력 함양을 목표로 한다. STEAM 교육의 확산을 위한 다양한 정책 중 교사연구회 활동을 지원하는 방법은 교사들의 자발성에 기반하므로 매우 효과적인 방안이다. 본 연구에서는 우수 STEAM 교사연구회로 선발된 팀의 보고서를 토대로 한국의 STEAM 교사연구회가 갖는 특징을 도출하고 발전 방향을 제안하였다. 한국의 STEAM 교사연구회는 STEAM 교육 경험이 많은 멘토역할의 연구원이 포함되어야 하며, 동일 학교에서 구성될 때 더욱 효과적이었다. 또한 코딩 교육을 과학기술 기반 관련 내용으로 인식하였고, STEAM 교육 프로그램에서 다수 활용하고 있었다. 참여 교사들은 교사연구회를 통해 얻은 경험과 지식을 적극적으로 공유하려고 하였으며, 전문성을 키우기 위해 다양한 연수와 컨설팅을 실시하였다. STEAM 교사연구회가 더욱 발전하기 위해서는 리더 교사의 수를 확대해야 하며, 교사연구회의 제약을 완화하고, 교사들의 시간적, 공간적 여유를 확보할 수 있어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

STEAM education, which represents the integrated education in Korea, has a goal to cultivate problem-solving ability and integrated thinking ability based on science and technology. Among the various policies for the spread of STEAM education, supporting the teachers’ research groups is very effective because it is based on the spontaneity of the teachers. In this study, we investigated the features of the STEAM teachers’ research groups in Korea by analyzing the reports of the STEAM Teachers’ research groups selected as excellence. The success of the STEAM teachers’ research groups depended on the capability of the research directing teacher. The research group activities turned out to be more effective when they were organized with the same grade level of students in the same school. In addition, it was noted that coding education has been utilized in many STEAM educational programs as part of science-technology-related contents. The STEAM teachers’ research groups intended to share their experiences and knowledge actively, and offered various training and consulting programs in order to enhance the participating teachers’ professional development. For their quality enhancement of the upcoming events, we suggest that they need to expand the number of leader teachers, reduce the constraints related with the teachers’ research group activities and secure enough time and space for the participating teachers.
