Autoethnography Research on the Academic Growth of Ph.D. Students in Humanities Convergence Therapy

국문 초록

본 연구는 청소년 집단상담 프로그램 상담자인 연구자가 인문융합치료학 박사과정 수련을 받으며 경험한 대학원생의 자기성찰과 상담자로서의 성장 경험에 관한 자문화기술지이다. 대학원 진학은 새로운 길을 찾고자 하는 연구자의 필요에서 출발하였다. 그러나 막연한 기대감은 오히려 대학원 수련 과정에서 반복된 좌절을 주었고 결국 살아남는 방법으로 나의 부족함을 그대로 수용하는 과정을 거쳤다. 연구자인 나는 인문융합치료학을 이해하고 프로그램에 적용하는 데까지 시간이 오래 걸렸다. 매시간 작성한 성찰일지는 처음에는 수업 내용을 이해하지 못한 자신에 대한 소극적인 차원의 성찰일지였다면 대학원 4차 이후에는 ‘무지한 나’에 대한 비난에서 벗어나 다른 사람에게 도움을 줄 수 있는 ‘협력적 나’에 대한 보다 적극적인 차원으로 성찰일지의 방향성을 달리하기 위해 노력하였다. 이를 계기로 연구자의 성찰에 대한 관점이 달라졌고 상담자로서의 역할도 변화하였다. 그 결과, ‘돕는 어른의 정체성’은 단지 상담자가 내담자를 돕는다는 것이 아님을 깨달았다. 즉. 인문융합치료에서 상담자는 내담자에게 자기의 서사 안에 자기 스스로 일어설 수 있는 역할과 힘을 만들어 주고 자기 가능성을 펼칠 수 있도록 장을 마련해 주는 조력자의 역할을 수행하는 것이어야 함을 인식하게 되었다. 본 연구자는 ‘돌봄 종사자’에 속한 상담자로 끊임없이 자기를 성찰하고 성장시켜야 하는 상담자의 숙명에서 박사과정을 통한 상담자로의 관점과 태도의 변화 과정을 내적 경험으로 기술하였다. 이를 통해 돌봄의 길을 선택한 동료와 유사 종사자들이 건강한 타자성을 실천하는데 자기 성찰과 돌봄 과정의 인식에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

This study is autoethnography about the growth experiences as a counselor and self-reflection of graduate students experienced by a researcher, a counselor in a youth group counseling program while receiving doctoral training in humanities convergence therapy. Admission to graduate school began with the need of the researcher to find a new path. However, vague expectations gave me repeated frustration during the graduate school training course, and eventually I went through the process of acknowledging my shortcomings as a way of survival. As a researcher, it took me a long time to understand and apply the humanities convergence therapy to the program. I am aware that the counselor should help the client create a role and power to help themselves in their own narratives and play the role of a helper who prepares a place for them to reveal their potential in the humanities convergence therapy. As a counselor belonging to the ‘caring worker’, this researcher described the process of change in perspective and attitude from counselor's fate of constant self-reflection and growth to counselor through doctoral course as inner experience. It is expected that this will be helpful for self-reflection and awareness of the caring process for colleagues and similar workers who have chosen the path of care to practice healthy otherness.
