국문 초록

21세기에 한국에서도 문화유산에 대한 관심은 크게 증대되었다. 기독교계 역시 자신들의 문화적 유산들에 대한 관심과 연구를 비로소 시작했다. 문화유산에 대한 관심은 몇 가지 목적과 방향성을 지니고 있다. 기독교 문화가 지닌 역사적 의의에 대한 고찰, 기독교 문화유산을 신앙목적 혹은 다른 자원으로 활용하기 위한 연구, 문화유산의 발굴, 보존 및 연구 등의 활동들이 나타난다. 본 논문에서는 한국의 기독교 문화유산이 지닌 역사적 시대적인 의미에 대하여 고찰하고 있다. 첫째, 문화유산의 과거적 의미로서, 한국의 기독교문화유산은 기독교의 본질적인 신앙에 드러내고 그 신앙적 전통을 이어준다. 그리고 한국이라는 시간과 공간적 배경이 지닌 새로운 형식을 통해 표현되고 있다. 둘째, 한국의 기독교문화유산은 현재의 신자들의 정체성을 밝히고 스스로를 이해하게 하며, “바른” 신학과 신앙에 참여함을 확인해준다. 셋째, 기독교적 문화유산은 인과관계에 종속적인 미래가 아니라 종말론적 의의와 가치를 제공한다. 신앙공동체들이 어떤 지향점을 지녀야 하는 지를 시사해 준다. 따라서 기독교 문화재의 발굴, 보존 및 연구 등에 많은 관심과 더불어 전문적인 노력들이 필수적이다.

영문 초록

In Korea in the 21st century, interest in cultural heritage has increased greatly. Christianity has also begun to study and care for their cultural heritage. Interest in cultural heritage has several purposes and directions. There is a review of the historical significance of Christian culture, research to utilize Christian cultural heritage as a religious purpose or other resource, and discovering, preserving and studying cultural heritage. This paper examines the historical meaning of Korean Christian cultural heritage. First, as a past meaning of cultural heritage, Korea's Christian cultural heritage is revealed to the essential faith of Christianity and maintains its religious tradition. And it is expressed through a new form with a time and space background of Korea. Second, Korean Christian cultural heritage identifies current believers' identities, makes them understand themselves, and confirms their participation in “right” theology and faith. Third, Christian cultural heritage provides eschatological significance and value, not a future dependent on causality. It suggests what faith communities should have. Therefore, professional efforts are essential along with much interest in the discovery, preservation and research of Christian cultural properties.
