코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서 고등학생의 수학에 대한 태도와 성취에 영향을 주는 변수의 성차

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서 수학에 대한 태도와 수학 성취에 주는 영향을 주는변수에 유의미한 성별 차이가 있는지 여부를 규명하고 여학생의 수학에 대한 태도를 향상하기 위한방안을 제시하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 2020년도 국가수준 학업성취도평가에 참여한 고등학교 212개교의 남녀 학생 104,720명의 수학성적을 분석했다. 먼저 수학에 대한 태도에영향을 끼치는 변수의 성차를 규명하기 위해 다집단 구조방정식 모형분석을 실시한 결과 유의미한성차가 나타났고, 여학생은 부모와의 관계가 수학에 대한 태도에 끼치는 영향이 크고, 남학생은 교사에 대한 만족도가 수학에 대한 태도에 끼치는 영향력이 크게 나타났다. 또한 수학에 대한 태도가수학성적에 끼치는 매개효과에 유의미한 성차가 있는지를 규명하기 위해 다집단 구조방정식 모형분석을 실시한 결과 유의미한 성차가 있었다. 여학생집단에서는 수학자신감, 수학가치인식, 수학흥미등이 모두 성적에 유의미한 매개효과를 보였으나 남학생 집단에서는 수학흥미의 매개효과가 유의미하지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 여학생이 수학에 대해 긍정적인 태도를 형성하기 위해 부모와 교사가수학의 가치와 유용성에 관하여 구체적으로 교육해야 함을 보여준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify whether there is a significant gender difference between the attitude toward mathematics and the variables affecting mathematical achievement in the COVID-19 pandemic situation, and to suggest a plan to improve female students’ attitudes toward mathematics. To achieve this goal, the mathematical grades of 104,720 male and female students from 212 high schools who participated in the 2020 national-level academic achievement evaluation were analyzed. First, as a result of conducting a multi-group structural equation model analysis to determine the gender difference of variables that affect attitudes toward mathematics, female students’ relationships with parents have a large influence on attitudes toward mathematics, and male students have a large influence on attitudes toward mathematics. In addition, as a result of conducting a multi-group structural equation model analysis to determine whether there is a significant gender difference in the mediating effect of attitudes toward mathematics on mathematical grades. In the female student group, mathematical confidence, mathematical value recognition, and mathematical interest all showed significant mediating effects on grades, but in the male student group, the mediating effect of mathematical interest was not significant. These results show that in order for female students to form a positive attitude toward mathematics, parents and teachers should specifically educate about the value and usefulness of mathematics.
