디지털 인류 포노 사피엔스와 생각하는 인류 호모 사피엔스 사이 인간의 정체성에 대한 니체적 분석

국문 초록

코로나-19로 우리 삶은 불가항력적인 속도로 전방위적 변화의 와중에 있다. 거리두기의 장기화 속에서 특히 두드러진 현상은 삶의 디지털화이다. 철학은 이 제 오프라인 영역에서 온라인 영역, 즉 디지털 영역으로의 전환 또는 확장에 상 응하는 연구 패러다임의 전환을 더 이상 미룰 수 없는 시점에 와 있다. 이와 같은 과제를 수행하기 위하여 선행되어야 할 작업 중에 하나가 바로 디지털 문화 속 디지털 세대를 이루는 인간의 정체성에 대한 이해일 것이다. 초-디지털 현상에 대한 담론들 중에 국내 대표적인 전문가로서 최재붕과 주영 민을들수있다.전자는 『포노사피엔스』를통해 디지털문화의역기능의이 면을, 후자는 『가상은 현실이다』를 통해 디지털 문화의 순기능의 이면을 드러 내고 있다. 이러한 점에서 양자는 오늘날 탈-아날로그화와 초-디지털화 현상 속 인간의 디지털화에 대한 균형 있는 논의를 하기 위한 주요 텍스트로 적당하다. 나아가 포노 사피엔스가 ‘신인류’로 규정될 때, 그 이전 인류인 호모 사피엔스의 정체성에 대한 논의를 위하여 유발 하라리(Yuval Noah Harari)의 『사피엔스』 를 분석해 볼 것이다. 그리고 논자는 이를 기반으로 하여 포노 사피엔스와 호모 사피엔스의 관계에 대한 비판적 성찰을 포노 사피엔스를 관통하는 호모 사피엔스의 닮은꼴을 중심 으로 드러내 볼 것이다. 논자는 포노 사피엔스와 호모 사피엔스의 닮은꼴로 인 하여 초래되는 닮은 부작용을 읽어내기 위하여 니체의 사유를 적용해볼 것이다. 그 이유는 호모 사피엔스, 즉 플라톤으로 대표될 수 있는 생각하는 인간에 대한 니체의 비판적 성찰은 호모 사피엔스의 유전자를 지니고 있는 포노 사피엔스에 대한 성찰에 여전히 유효할 것이기 때문이다. 이를 위해 니체의 『도덕의 계보』 의 주요 개념을 적용해 볼 것이다. 디지털 인류인 포노 사피엔스와 생각하는 인류인 호모 사피엔스 사이에 위치 한 현인류는 호모 사피엔스의 정체성에 여전히 고착되어 있는 것도 아니고 그렇 다고 포노 사피엔스의 정체성으로 완전히 전환되어 있는 것도 아니다. 저자는 아직 양자 사이에서 갈등하고 있는 현인류의 정체성을 성찰함으로써 디지털 인 류가 당면할 수 있을 부작용들을 선취해보고자 한다. 이로써 논자는 디지털 인 류가 장차 좀 더 건강하고 행복한 삶을 회복하는 데 기여하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Our daily lives are undergoing rapid changes because of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). A phenomenon that stands out amid prolonged social distancing is the digitization of daily life. Philosophy is now at a point where it is no longer possible to postpone the shift in the research paradigm that corresponds to the move or expansion from the offline to the online sphere—that is, the digital sphere. A condition that must be fulfilled to carry out such a task is to understand the human identity that defines the digital generation in digital culture. In South Korea, Jae-bung Choi and Young-min Joo are the leading experts on this digital phenomenon. The former reveals the opposite side of the dysfunction of digital culture in his book Phono Sapiens, while the latter reveals the opposite side of the benefits of digital culture in his book Virtuality Is Reality. Hence, both books serve as suitable main texts for a balanced discussion on human digitization in today’s de-analogization and super- digitization processes. Moreover, when Phono sapiens is defined as the “new humanity,” it is necessary to discuss the identity of the preceding human species, Homo sapiens. The author will discuss this topic through the analysis of Yuval Noah Harari’s book Sapiens. Based on the outcomes of this analysis, the relationship between Phono sapiens and Homo sapiens is then going to be reviewed focusing on their encompassing resemblance. Particularly, the author will closely examine the common side effects caused by the similarities between the two species. To identify the shared cause corresponding to these side effects, the author will apply Nietzsche’s reasoning because Nietzsche’s critical assessment of Homo sapiens, a thinking man such as Plato, will still be a valid reflection of Phono sapiens, who carries the Homo sapiens’ genes. The reasoning of Nietzsche, the most influential and fundamental critic of traditional metaphysics, will contribute to uncovering the problems hidden behind the strengths of Plato’s super-doppelganger—AI. To achieve this goal, the main concepts used in On the Genealogy of Morality by Nietzsche will be applied. The current human species is somewhere between the digital humanity and the thinking humanity, which means that it is not stuck to the identity of Homo Sapiens, but it has not been completely transformed into the identity of Phono Sapiens yet. By keeping this identity conflict in mind, this study intends to lay out the side effects the digital human race may face. Taking all the above into consideration, the author intends to help to prepare digital humanity for a healthier and happier life in the future.
