아한한아 의료통역 교육의 실효성 및 발전 방안 연구

국문 초록

코로나 팬데믹이 시작되기 전 10여 년간 UAE를 필두로 한국을 방문한 중동 환자의 수가 급속도로 증가하면서 의료통역사에 대한 수요도 급증했다. 2009년부터 정부기관을 시작으로 대학(원)에서 의료통역 교육과정과 강의를 운영했다. 의료통역 교육 실효성에 대한 연구가 부족하여, 본 연구는 교육과정을 분석하고 만족도와 보완할 점을 설문조사해 의료통역 교육의 발전 방안을 모색하는 것이 목적이다. 구글 설문지를 통해 의료통역사 및 코디네이터, 의료진, 환자 및 보호자 3그룹을 대상으로 의료통역 교육에 대한 설문조사를 진행했으며, 엄중한 상황 속에서 큰 어려움이 있었지만 유의미한 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 교육 내용이 크게 재편되면서 보완된 부분과 더 보완이 필요한 부분을 발견할 수 있었고, 그룹 별로 느끼는 교육에 필요한 부분과 교육 이수, 검정시험 합격 등의 통역사 검증의 중요성을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The demand for medical interpreters surged as the number of Middle Eastern patients who visited Korea, led by the UAE, rapidly increased in the decade before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Medical interpreting courses and lectures have taken place at universities and graduate schools since 2009, starting with a government agency. The purpose of this study is to analyze the curriculum as there is a lack of research on the effectiveness of medical interpreting education and to find ways to develop medical interpreting education by surveying satisfaction and points to be supplemented. A survey was conducted through Google Forms on medical interpreting education for three groups of medical interpreters and coordinators, medical staff, patients and guardians. Meaningful results were obtained although there were great difficulties in severe circumstances. The results indicate that the reorganization of the curriculum improved some aspects of the education, yet there is still improvement needed regarding task specific education, training completion, and verifying successful examination results.
