대학의 학생 지원에 대한 학생 만족도와 학업중단 간의 관계 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국교육고용패널 II의 4차년도 자료에 대하여 로짓 모형과 고정효과 및 확률효과모형을 활용하여 대학의 학생 지원에 대한 대학생들의 만족도와 학업중단 간의 관계를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 대학의 교육･복지시설에 대한 학생들의 만족도가 높을수록 학업중단 확률이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 대학 차원에서 학생들의 학업중단을 줄이기 위해서는 학생들이 실질적으로 체감할 수 있는 시설 개선, 공간 혁신 노력이 이루어질 필요가 있음을 알 수 있다. 이에 반해 대학의 심리상담과 진로취창업 지원에 대한 학생들의 만족도는 학업중단과 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 없는 것으로 나타나 해당 학생 지원 프로그램에 대한 점검과 성과 개선을 위한 노력이 필요함을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 분석 자료와 모형 상의 제약으로 대학의 학생 지원 노력이 학생들의 학업중단에 미치는 영향에 대한 인과적인 추정에는 이르지 못한 한계가 있다. 그러나 제한적인 수준에서 이루어져 온 대학의 학생 지원 노력 성과를 실증적으로 분석함으로써 향후의 대학 정책 개발 및 운영에 있어 유용한 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the relationship between college students’ satisfaction on college efforts for student support and students’ withdrawals. To achieve the goal, this study exploits 4th year dataset of KEEP II utilizing logit and fixed/random effect logit model. The results of this study first show that students’ satisfaction on education and welfare facilities is positively related to the reduction of student withdrawal. Based on this result, we can conclude that facility improvement and space innovation for students are needed to curtail student withdrawal. Meanwhile, this study also finds that students’ satisfaction on psychological counselling and career/ employment/entrepreneurship services are not statistically related to students withdrawal. The results suggest that it is needed to evaluate overall performance of student support services and to endeavor to improve the performance with further studies regarding this issue.
