노인교육 활성화를 위한 지역교육공동체 사례 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 중·고령 노인 주도로 구성된 <박미시니어공동체> 사례를 중심으로 지역민과 지역사회의 변화가 갖는 의미를 탐색하여 노인이 주체가 되는 지역교육공동체의 발전 가능성을 검토하고, 이를 통해 노인교육에 대한 새로운 관점과 시사점을 탐색하는 데 있다.연구 방법은 질적 연구 방법의 실증적 연구인 사례연구를 적용하였다. 연구 절차는 온/오프라인의 각종 정보와 기록물을 수집하고 심층면담과 직접 관찰을 실시한 후, 반복적 비교분석법을 활용하여 자료 분석을 진행하였다. 연구참여자는 참여 연도, 집단별로 구성원 11명과 관내 마을 강사 2명 등 총 13명을 선정하였다. 연구결과, <박미시니어공동체>는 생성, 성장, 도약의 단계를 거쳐 발전하였으며, 거점공간과 재원의 확보, 학습을 통한 구성원의 역량 강화, 지역공동체 간 연대, 리더와 조력자 등이 공동체 성장의 주요 동력이었음이 확인되었다. 또한 <박미시니어공동체>의 특징은 기존의 기관 중심, 공급자 중심의 노인교육과는 달리 지역 중심, 학습자 중심의 프로그램 기획과 운영, 지역 내 교육 자원의 활용, 지역공동체 간 협력과 학습망 구축, 자발적인 학습과 활동의 성과물을 활용한 창의적인 마을축제 개최 등이 선순환을 이루면서 진행되었다는 점이다. 지역교육공동체 활동을 통해 참여자들은 신체적 건강뿐만 아니라 소외감 극복, 만족감 향상이 이루어졌으며 성취감과 자아효능감, 행복감도 증진되었다. 지역사회 차원에서는 지역민의 소통과 세대 간 인식개선, 노인세대의 사회적인 역할 회복, 지역민의 정주(定住) 의식 향상 등이 이루어졌다. 본 연구는 특정 지역의 노인들을 대상으로 한 연구결과라는 한계에도 불구하고, 향후 중·고령 노인을 위한 노인교육 활성화에 시사점을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study are to analyze the meaning of changes in local residents and communities, focusing on the case of PakMi Senior Community consisting of middle-old and older-old, to explore new perspectives and implications for education for the elderly. As for the research method, a qualitative case study was applied, which can reveal the process and characteristics of Pakmi Senior Community and member’s changes of minds about themselves and community. Interviews were conducted with 1 leader, 10 members of the community, and 2 village instructors. In the research procedure, data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group interviews, and direct observation. This study showed that Pakmi Senior Community developed through the stages of creation, growth, and leap. And base space, financial resources, active participation of residents, solidarity between communities, and senior leadership groups were important factors in community growth. As a result of active participation in Local learning community, the older learners have changed in their lives such as overcoming alienation and satisfaction, as well as physical health. At the local community level, inter-generational harmony, restoration of the independent role of the elderly, and the sense of settlement were achieved. This study is expected to be a good model for the facilitation of the education for the elderly in the future in spite of the research limit that has been executed in special area.
