국문 초록

이 논문은 우리의 비물질적･물질적 전통과 사회적 실천윤리가 어떻게 관련 되는지를 이해하기 위해 1894년 발간된 해동속소학에 대한 언설을 분석하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 전통적 윤리서라 할 수 있는 이 책은 당시 동아시아의 문 화 정치적 질서가 급변한 역사적 과정에서 기존의 소학과 다른 한국식 유교문 화적 윤리규범을 재구축하려는 저자의 사고를 잘 나타내준다. 이 책은 기존의 소학의 구성체제를 따르지만, 이와 다른 점은 윤리적 언설이 한국 유학자의 도통(道統)과 가문의 전통을 고려한 명현과 이들과 다른 사회계급의 선인들을 중심으로 그들의 도덕률과 가치관, 믿음에 대한 것으로 구성되어있다는 것이 다. 한국인의 우주관과 인간관을 기반한 사회적 실천윤리는 한문의 문자적 전 통을 중시한 식자층과 구비전승의 사회주체인 민들 사이에 서로 긴장과 갈등 을 야기시키는 것이 아니라 상호교류된다는 점에서 수용적 개방성이 존재한 다고 할 수 있다. 특히, 사회적 주체의 사회공간적 윤리는 그들의 생애과정과 사환기(仕宦期)와 관련될 뿐만 아니라 개인･집･마을･지역･국가, 동아시아의 윤리적 주체들 사이에 형성된 50여가지 사회적 관계에 대한 도덕적 규범과 행동으로 구체화 된다. 이 가운데서 가장 많은 빈도수를 보이는 것은 수신해야 할 자신에 관한 것이다, 그 이유는 지고한 덕의 완성을 지향하는 한 개인의 도덕적 수행 행동 은 자아완성을 위해 그 무엇보다 중요하기 때문이다. 다음으로 많은 언설에서 보이는 사회적 관계는 군신관계이다. 그가 이러한 이원적 관계를 기반한 국가 적 윤리를 강조한 것은 당시 외세침략과 급격한 사회변동를 극복하기 위한 정 치체는 왕권에 대한 도덕적 적법성에 기반을 두어야 한다는 사고가 영향을 준 것으로 보인다. 그리고 문무겸전의 가문 전통도 영향을 준 것으로 보인다. 이 어서 세번째로 높은 빈도수를 보인 사회적 관계는 부자관계이다. 효도와 같은 사회적 윤리는 유교문화적 인륜과 도덕을 실천하는 문화적 핵심이다. 비록 그 는 서구의 문화적 상대주의를 알지 못하였지만 한국의 윤리전통에는 중국과 다른 상이성이 존재할 수 있음을 이 책에서 보여준다는 점에서 ‘부분적 윤리상 대주의(部分的 倫理相對主義)’의 시각을 어느 정도 견지하였던 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the discourse on Haedong Soksohak published in 1894 in order to understand how our immaterial and material traditions and social practice ethics are related. This book, which can be said to be a traditional book of ethics, well expresses the author s thinking to reconstruct the Korean-style Confucian cultural ethical norms that are different from the existing Confucianism in the historical process of rapid change in the cultural and political order of East Asia at the time. This book follows the existing structure of Sohak, but the difference is that the ethical discourse is centered on Myeong- hyeon, who considered the traditions and family traditions of Korean Confucian scholars, and their moral laws, values, and beliefs, centered on them and the ancestors of other social classes that it is composed of. The social practice ethic based on Koreans view of the universe and human beings does not cause tension or conflict between the literate who emphasizes the literal tradition of Chinese characters and the people who are social subjects of oral tradition, but rather receptive openness exists in that they are mutually exchanged. In particular, the social and spatial ethics of social subjects are not only related to their life process and social events, but also moral norms for over 50 social relationships formed between individuals, houses, villages, regions, countries, and ethical subjects in East Asia embodied in action. Among them, the most frequent one is about the self to be received, because the moral performance behavior of an individual aiming for the perfection of the supreme virtue is more important than anything else for self-fulfillment. Next, the social relationship seen in many discourses is the military-to-military relationship. His emphasis on national ethics based on this dual relationship seems to have been influenced by the idea that the political body to overcome foreign aggression and rapid social changes at the time should be based on the moral legitimacy of the kingship. It seems that the family tradition of literary and military Accomplishments also had an influence. The social relationship with the third highest frequency is the father-son relationship. Social ethics such as filial piety are the cultural core of practicing Confucian culture s humanity and morality. Although he was unaware of Western cultural relativism, he maintained the view of partial ethical relativism in that this book showed that Korean ethical traditions might differ from those of China.
