가마의 소성방법 및 구조의 차이에 따른 소성결과물 비교 분석 연구

국문 초록

다양한 형태의 가마는 각자의 나라에서 서로 다른 문화와 지리적 환경 등에 따라 여러 구조로 발전하였고 그에 따른 소성 결과물 또한 물리적으로 차이가 나타나게 되었다. 본 연구는 시간의 흐름에 따른 가마의 변천과정과 소성방법의 종류에 따른 결과물의 차이를 과학적으로 증명하고자 하였다. 유물과 현대도자의 소성결과물 중에서 현대도자 시험편 10점, 도자유물 시험편 7점을 선정하여 소결단면 측정과 흡수율 측정 그리고 XRD 분석(X-선 회절분석) 및 XRF(X-선 형광분석) 분석을 시행하였다. 측정 및 분석결과 터널가마 및 도염식 가스가마 등 현대도자제품을 생산하는 가마에서의 제품소결 결과가 우수한 안정성을 나타내는 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 다만 유물 시험편 중 백자 시험편 11번, 분청사기 시험편 12번, 청자 시험편 14번은 현대가마에서 소성한 결과물과 비교하여도 물리적으로 그 차이가 크지 않으며 질적으로 우수한 부분을 나타내었다. 소성결과물에 대한 과학적 측정 및 분석을 통해 가마의 유형과 구조에 따라 소성의 결과물은 질적인 차이가 나타나고 있음을 확인할 수 있었으며 이와 함께 가마의 구조적 차이에 따른 결과물의 차이도 확인하였다.

영문 초록

Various forms of kilns evolved into different structures in different countries depending on their different cultures and geographical environments and the results of the firing contained physical differences as well. The purpose of this study was to scientifically verify the change processes of the kilns with the passage of time and differences of the results based on types of firing methods. Among firing results of artifacts and the modern ceramics, this study selected 10 samples of modern ceramics and 7 samples of ceramic artifacts on which sintering section measurement, absorption rate measurement, XRD analysis (X-ray diffraction analysis) and XRF analysis (X-ray fluorescence analysis) were conducted. As a result of measurements and analyses, this study was able to draw out the results of sintering with excellent stability produced in kilns of modern ceramic products such as tunnel kiln and down draft kiln for gas firing. Nevertheless, among the artifact samples, the white porcelain sample 11, grayish-blue-powdered celadon sample 12 and celadon sample 14 did not have significant physical differences when compared with the results of firing produced in modern kilns and they had superb qualities. Through scientific measurements and analyses on the results of the firing, this study verified that the results of firing had different qualities depending on the types and structures of the kilns and confirmed differences of the results based on the structural differences of the kilns.
