[일반논문] 리원우 연구를 위한 실증적 바탕

국문 초록

리원우는 북한 근대 신의주 지역문학과 북한 초기 어린이문학을 대표하는 작가 가운데 한 사람이다. 그럼에도 그를 다룬 개별 논고는 한 편도 이루어지지 않았다. 이 글은 리원우에 관한 본격 연구로 나아가기 위해 실증적 바탕을 마련하는 일을 목표로 이루어졌다. 리원우(1914~1985)는 1931년부터 글벗 안룡만, 김우철과 함께 활발한 문학 활동을 전개하면서 본명 이동준을 두고 필명 리동우와 리원우를 썼다, 그러다 1937년 무렵부터 리원우 이름으로 통일해 평생의 작가적 정체성을 이었다. 그가 낸 낱책은 14권으로 시집 2권, 동화집 3권, 동시집 2권, 어린이문학평론집 1권, 전투기 1권, 작품 선집 3권, 중국 번역본 1권, 연변 겨레사회 번인본 1권을 확인할 수 있다. 연속간행물에 실린 낱글은 1931년부터 1945년 나라잃은시대 36편을 비롯하여, 을유광복부터 1978년까지 이어졌다. 고향 신의주에서 평양으로 자리를 옮긴 광복기와 종군작가 활동을 했던 전쟁기, 그리고 전후기 조선작가동맹 아동문학분과 위원장으로 일했던 오랜 기간 동안 활발했다. 1967년부터 낱글 발표가 뜸해지는데 비교적 이른 시기인 50대 후반 무렵 현직에서 물러난 것으로 보인다. 리원우는 오랜 세월 시(노랫말)와 수필, 평론과 어린이문학 여러 갈래에 걸쳐 다양한 작품 활동을 함으로써 여느 작가와 다른 다갈래 창작을 보여 준다. 글 끝에 붙인 「리원우 작품 해적이」를 바탕으로 본격적인 리원우론이 여러 쪽에서 이루어지기를 바란다.

영문 초록

Lee Won-woo is one of the most iconic North Korean children’ literature writers who also represents the local literature of the Sinuiju area. Despite his prominence, no academic papers about him have been written. In this light, the purpose of this article is to lay the empirical foundation to start research on Lee Won-woo in full gear. Lee Won-woo (1914-1985) is one of his pennames along with Lee Dong-woo he used while engaging in creative works with his literary friends Ahn Ryong-man and Kim Woo-chul from 1931. His real name is Lee Dong-woo. Th en, he clung to his penname Lee Won-woo from around 1937 and solidifi ed his identity as a writer. He published a total of 13 books, including two poetry books, three fairytale books, two children’s poetry books, one children’s literature review, one war book, three works collections, and one Chinese version book. He also wrote a series of articles published in periodicals from 1931 to 1945, which include 36 articles of Stateless Era, leading from the Liberation in Year of the Fowl to 1978. He was active in creative writing for a long period of time, including the liberation period when he moved from his hometown Sinuiju to Pyongyang, war period when he worked as a war writer, and the postwar period when he served as chairman of the Children’s Literature Division of the Joseon Writers’ Union. The number of articles he published started to diminish from 1967 and he appeared to retire in his late 50s, a relatively early period of retirement. Lee Won-woo is shown to have engaged in multilateral creative activities diff erentiated from other writers as he announced a variety of works, including poetries (lyrics), essays, reviews, and children’s literature for quite a long period of time. Th is study seeks to lay a foundation to encourage a full-fl edged eff ort to study on Lee Won-woo from various sides based on one of his writings ‘Pirate’.
