국문 초록

명말청초부터 18세기까지의 청대 학술은 객관적 지식과 분석적 태도를 중시하는 방향으로 전개되었다. 여기에는 두 가지 원인이 개입되었다. 첫 번째는 당대 유학 내부에서 벌어진 태극논쟁과 격물치지 논쟁으로, 논쟁에서 동원된 문헌고증의 방법론은 구체적인 증거와 견문지지를 중시하는 고증학적 학풍의 기원이 된다. 두 번째는 서학의 영향이다. 서학은 도덕법칙과 자연원리의 통일을 전제로 하는 신유학적 우주론을 동요시켰다. 18세기 청대 학술에서 나타난 고증학적 학풍이란 위와 같은 내외의 변화에 조응한 결과이며, 동아시아 전통사상 자체에서 일어난 내적 발전으로 봐야 한다.

영문 초록

In the 18th century, Chinese philosophy developed in a direction that emphasized objective knowledge and analytical attitude. Two causes were involved in this. The first are the debates that took place within Confucianism at the time, and the methodology of documentary evidence mobilized in the debate is the origin of an archaeological academic style that values specific evidence and support for examination. The second is the influence of Western science. Western science agitated the neo-Confucian cosmology premised on the unification of moral laws and natural principles. The archaeological academic style that appeared in the Qing Dynasty in the 18th century is the result of responding to the above internal and external changes, and should be viewed as an internal development that occurred in the traditional East Asian thought itself.
