영문 초록

From the Three Kingdoms Period, many then-Korean many writers satisfied their ideological and epistemic thirst, which was not quenched only by Confucianism, through 『Chuang-Tzu』 and learned and used the colorful literary imagination and the rhetorical expressions contained in his allegories. This phenomenon became more active and various as the Joseon Dynasty era stepped in. In the process, some writers created Korean poetic literature that exhort reality by insinuation using the allegories of 『Chuang-Tzu』 as theme. Of them, the literary works of Lee Hang, Jang Yoo, and Cho Chan-han take a form of full-length writing and express the allegories in various literary ways. In addition, they actively reflected their inner consciousness that stemmed from their troubles with reality in the works. This kind of Korean allegorical poetic literature on reality has a different literary impact from fable poetry that strongly criticizes reality. These works do not directly criticize or tell right from wrong on the irrationalities, conflicts, and contradictions of the real world. Instead, they expose human desires and social structure full of them in order to remind us of the fundamental causes of such germination. This provides us room to contemplate what the true nature and value of life are. 『Chuang-Tzu』 s allegories on reality can arouse public consensus and enlightening easily and interestingly even in the present. And the Korean allegorical poetic literature using his allegories on reality as theme are mutually complementary to 『Chuang-Tzu』 s allegories. This enriches the literary value of allegory more, enables new imagination and a variety of interpretations, and shows the specific meaning of it in reality, reflecting individual s life and consciousness in it. Therefore, Korean allegorical poetic literature on reality using 『Chuang-Tzu』 s allegories lets those who live in the modern times contemplate whether they follow institutionalized value system or others desires blindly or they are trapped in a fixed self-awareness and prejudice. In this sense, the ultimate goal of Korean allegorical poetic literature is to provide a life free of obsession and fixed notion, happy life stemming form self-motivation, not by external conditions, and co-existence and peace based on open mind and generosity.
