국문 초록

메타버스는 이미 20여 년 전부터 만들어져 오던 것으로, 그 이후로 관련 기업들이 경쟁적으로 서비스를 선보이고 있다. 특히 ICT 산업에 새로운 패러다임으로 급속히 주목받고 있다. 최근 이렇게 주목받게 된 가장 큰이유는 페이스북이 메타라는 사명으로 변경하면서 메타버스, 사업에 진출하였다. 현재, 코로나-19로 사회적 거리두기가 강화되면서 비대면 방식의 온라인 만남은 이제 평범한 일상이 되었다. 이러한 상황에서 갈 곳을 잃은 사람들은 메타버스 내에서 자신의 아바타를 통해 직접 물건을, 만들어 팔고, 가상현실에서 통용되는 가상화폐로 쇼핑도 하며 때로는 유명 연예인의 콘서트를 보러 가기도 한다. 이러한 메타버스의 시장규모는 2035년까지 315조 원으로 예측될 정도로 미래의 거대한 산업으로 성장을 예고하고 있다. 이제 메타버스는 시장 태동기를 넘어 활성화 단계에 진입하였다.. 그런만큼 관련 기업들의 치열한 경쟁이 본격화되고 있고 우리나라 정부도, 이미 메타버스 TF 결성해서 민원 관리와 공공서비스, 분야에서 메타버스를 도입해 많은 국민이 거리와 시간에 제약 없이 공공서비스를 이용할 수 있도록 한다고 한다. 이에 본 논문에서 살펴본 메타버스의 5가지 문제점과 더불어 이와같이 메타버스가, 일상생활과 연결된다면, 정책과 제도를 통해 메타버스의 순기능을 강화하고, 사회적 문제를 최소화할 수, 있을지에 대해 면밀히 검토해야 하며, 메타버스의 문제점을 파악하여 현실적인 활용과 미래의 발전 방향에 대하여 진지하게 고민해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Metabus has already been created more than 20 years ago, and related companies have been competitively offering services since then. In particular, it is rapidly attracting attention as a new paradigm in the ICT industry. The biggest reason for the recent attention is that Facebook entered the metabus business as it changed its name to Meta. Currently, as social distancing has been strengthened due to COVID-19, non-face-to-face online meetings have now become ordinary daily lives. In this situation, people who have lost their place to go make and sell their own goods through their avatars, shop with virtual currency commonly used in virtual reality, and sometimes go to see concerts by famous celebrities. The market size of Metabus is expected to be 315 trillion won by 2035, signaling growth as a huge industry in the future. Now, Metabus has entered the activation stage beyond the beginning of the market. As such, fierce competition among related companies is in full swing, and the Korean government has already formed Metabus TF to introduce Metabus in the field of civil complaint management and public services so that many people can use public services without restrictions on distance and time. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the current problems of metabuses and their implications for future development.
