실용음악 보컬교육에서의 임프로비제이션(Improvisation)에 대한 교수자 인식 FGI 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 재즈의 주요소로 지칭되는 임프로비제이션에 대한 실용음악 보컬교육으로의 수용 가능성을 심층적으로 살펴보기 위한 논의를 시도하는 것에 목적이 있다. 그를 위하여 현재 실용음악과에서 보컬 전공실기 교육을 담당하고 있는 교수자 8명을 대상으로 표적집단면접(FGI)을 실시하여 다음과 같은 인식을 도출하였다. 임프로비제이션의 교육적 가치와 의미는 ‘보컬 테크닉의 극대화’, ‘아티스트로의 성장 가능성’, ‘음악 내적 기준과 틀의 마련’, ‘새로운 음악적 시각 제시’, ‘이론과 실기의 융합’으로 특정되었다. 임프로비제이션 수용의 필요성 및 역할에 대한 인식은 ‘음악적 표현의 극대화 및 다양화’, ‘풍부한 표현력과 음악적 시각의 확장’, ‘생각의 확장을 통한 음악적 전달력 상승’, ‘창의성의 개발’, ‘청음 능력의 향상’ 요인에 도움이 될 것으로 조사되었다. 임프로비제이션 교육이 가져올 보컬교육의 긍정적 효과로는 가창의 ‘다양성’, ‘창의성’의 확장 효과가 있음으로 나타났다. 임프로비제이션 중심 보컬전공실기 교수법의 방법 및 방식에 대한 인식은 재즈음악보다 대중음악, 팝 음악, 광고음악까지 다양한 음악을 활용하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 임프로비제이션 교육에 대한 확대 가능성 및 방안에 대한 인식은 보컬 전공실기 수업 외에도 실용음악과 교육 전반으로 확대, 활용될 수 있음을 강조하였다. 임프로비제이션 보컬교육을 위해 필요한 교수자의 능력에 대한 인식은 ‘악기 연주 능력’, ‘청음 능력’, ‘화성학적 지식’, ‘장르별 특화된 식견’, ‘시청각적 구현 능력’, ‘긍정적인 에너지’, ‘확고한 커리큘럼 구축 및 실현’, ‘지속적인 교육적 아이디어 탐구’ 등이 주요 요건으로 거론되었다. 본 연구는 실용음악 보컬교육에서의 선택의 폭을 넓히는 것의 주요 도구로써 임프로비제이션을 대입해 보고, 그 가능성을 살펴보기 위한 이론적 배경 및 기틀을 마련하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 내용이 향후 관련 논의의 확장을 위한 기초자료로서의 가치를 가질 수 있길 바란다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore in-depth the possibility of introducing the main elements of jazz to Applied music vocal education. To this end, eight professors in charge of vocals majoring in Applied music were interviewed for group interviews (FGI) to draw the following understanding. The educational values and meanings of improvisation were identified as ‘maximizing vocal techniques’, ‘potential growth as an artist’, ‘constructing standards and frameworks within music’, ‘presenting new musical perspectives’, and ‘merging theory and practical skills’. The need and role of improvisation acceptance are helpful in maximizing and diversifying musical expression, expanding rich expression and musical vision, increasing musical communication, developing creativity, and improving listening ability. The positive effect of improvisation education on vocal education is the expansion of ‘diversity’ and ‘creativity’ of singing. According to a survey, the method and method of teaching vocals mainly in improvisation are more diverse than jazz music, pop music, and advertising music. He emphasized that the possibility and perception of improvisation education should be expanded and applied to Applied music and education in addition to vocals. The main requirements of the professor’s ability to understand the performance of musical instruments, listening ability, harmonics knowledge, special knowledge by genre, audiovisual implementation ability, positive energy, strong curriculum construction and implementation. This study introduces improvisation as the main tool for expanding choice in Applied music vocal education, and aims to lay the theoretical background and foundation for exploring its possibilities. It is hoped that the contents derived from this study will be of value as basic data for future discussions.
