국문 초록

이 연구는 연구자 자신이 경험하고 실천해 온 ‘예술노동’에 대해 자문화기술지(Autoethnography) 연구방법을 적용하고 문헌조사를 보완해 연구한 것이다. ‘예술노동’은 예술인이 임금이나 보수를 받기 위해 예술적 상상력, 예술 행위 능력과 같은 자신의 노동력을 제공하는 것으로 예술인과 사회가 맺는 경제적 관계를 해명하는 개념이다. ‘예술노동자’는 예술노동력으로 그것에 대한 대가와 교환하여 살아간다. 예술인 중 일부는 예술단, 예술기관에 고용되어 있거나 기획사에 전속되어 있고, 대개는 자율적인 프리랜서로 활동한다. 이 연구는 연구자의 자기 진술을 통해 예술인의 빈곤과 양극화, 자기착취, 비전형성을 ‘예술노동’의 주요 특성으로 제기한다. 그리고, 예술인들이 장기간 숙련하고 익혀야 하는 예술노동력을 가지고 있음에도 일반적으로 계약을 맺지 못한 채 ‘프레카트리아트’로 살아야 하는 사례에 주목하고, 직업 지위가 다층적이며 유동적인 예술인의 노동시간, 노동조합을 결성하는 예술인의 이익집단 구성방식 변화를 살펴보았다. 거기에는 연구자가 경험한 예술인 노동운동의 등장이 있었다.

영문 초록

The subjects of this study are ‘arts labor’. Applying the Autoethnography method, and supplementing by literature review and study. I could easily understood the characteristics of ‘arts labor’ that was revealed in a previous study. Because I’m an art worker and an activist of the artist trade union. ‘Arts labor’ observed by me is a concept that explains the economic relationship between artists and society, that’s atypical labor contract provided their own art labor force, such as artistic imagination and artistic performance ability, to receive wages or remuneration. ‘Arts labor’ deduced by me has some characteristics, that’s atypical relationship by contractual or employment, and poverty and polarization of artist, and self-exploitation. Artists live in exchange for the price of art labor force. Some artists employed by art troupes, art organizations, or are assigned to agencies, but are usually autonomous freelancers. Almost all of the artist are working under conditions that’s concurrent occupation and unstable artist status, unpredictable and intermittent and irregular and long working hours, More than half of them are without a written contract. They have been art skilled for a long time, but the majority are precariat(precarious proletariat) suffering from low wages. So they often form Culture and Arts Workers’ Unions or Culture and Arts Cooperatives to promote their interests. There I experienced the artist labor movement appears.
