질적 메타분석을 통해 살펴본 성소수자의 변화과정 경험

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 성소수자에 대한 차별과 혐오가 만연한 사회적 환경 속에서 성소수자의 경험 과정, 경험의 변화요인을 중심으로 탐색하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 성소수자 경험을 주제로 한 질적 연구를 2021년 7월까지 발표한 학술지 논문 21편을 대상으로 질적 메타분석을 실시하였다. 분석 논문의 자료코딩 및 범주, 개별 연구간 상호비교, 분석, 결과도출, 종합적 결과 및 도식화, 변화과정과 최종해석까지 7단계로 수행하였다. 그 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성소수자의 경험은‘남과 다른 나’ 인식하는 경험,‘거부당하는 나’ 갈등하는 경험,‘저항하는 나’ 애쓰는 경험,‘이해받는 나’ 지지받는 경험,‘주체적인 나’ 사회기여 경험으로 분석되었다. 또한‘주체적인 나’사회기여 경험을 하더라도 다시‘남과 다른 나’ 인식하는 경험으로 돌아가는 순환과정으로 갈 수도 있었다. 둘째,‘남과 다른 나’ 인식하는 경험에서‘주체적인 나’ 사회기여 경험으로 이동하는데 있어서 위험요인은 물리적 장벽과 심리적 장벽으로 나누어지며, 보호요인은 사회적 울타리와 개인의 노력이 있었다. 셋째, 성소수자 경험의 과정과 요인에 대한 통합적이고 종합적인 탐색을 바탕으로 변화과정의 모형을 제시하였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 성소수자들의 경험과 경험의 변화 과정에 대한 특징을 설명하였다. 마지막으로 연구의 의미를 논의하여 연구의 의의, 상담을 위한 시사점과 제한점을 제시하여 후속 연구를 위해 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of LGBTQI people in a social environment where discrimination and hatred of LGBTQI people is rampant, focusing on factors that change experiences. In order to achieve this research purpose, a qualitative meta-analysis was conducted on 21 papers in academic journals that had published qualitative research on the topic of sexual minority experiences by July 2021. Data coding and categories of the thesis to be analyzed, inter-comparison between individual studies, analysis, derivation of results, comprehensive results and schemata, change process and final interpretation were performed in 7 steps. The study results are as follows. First, the experiences of LGBTQI people are the experience of recognizing I am different from others , the experience of conflicting with the rejected me , the experience of struggling with the resisting me , the experience of being supported by the understanding me , and the experience of contributing to society as an independent me . Also, even if one had an experience of contributing to society as an independent myself , one could go back to the cycle of recognizing myself as different from others . Second, in moving from the experience of recognizing a ‘me different from others’ to the experience of contributing to the ‘independent me’, the risk factors are divided into physical and psychological barriers, and the protective factors were social barriers and individual efforts. Third, a model of the change process was presented based on an integrated and comprehensive search for the process and factors of the LGBTQI experience. Based on the results of this study, the characteristics of the experiences of LGBTQI people and the process of changing their experiences were explained. Finally, by discussing the meaning of the study, the significance of the study, implications and limitations for counseling were presented, and suggestions for follow-up studies were made.
