기하학적 확률을 가르치기 위한 수학 교사의 지식(MKT) 분석

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 고등학교 수학 교사의 기하학적 확률에 대한 MKT를 분석하여 수업의 질 향상 및 교사의 전문성 향상을 위한 시사점을 제시하는데 있다. 이를 위해 현직교사 43명을 연구 대상으로 설문 및 면담 조사를 통해 얻은 결과, 많은 교사들이 기하학적 확률의 정의에서 영역의 ‘크기’는 주로 넓이로 생각하는 경향을 보였고, 그로 인해 교사들은 대체로 넓이를 이용한 확률은 잘 계산하였지만, ‘크기’가 길이인 확률 문제는 오답율이 높았다. 한편, 몇몇 교사들은 크기가 0인 사건은 기하학적 확률을 적용할 수 없다고 생각하고, 확률값이 0이면 사건이 일어나지 않는다는 오개념을 가지고 있었다. 전반적으로 교사들은 기하학적 확률에 대한 MKT가 미흡한 것으로 나타났는데, 이를 강화하기 위해서는 동료장학이나 직무연수 등과 같은 재교육의 기회가 제공될 필요성이 있다고 생각된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate mathematics teachers’ MKT(mathematical knowledge for teaching) in the geometrical probability. Even if the term of the geometrical probability is not included in the mathematics textbook, it has been dealt in the mathematics workbook in high school. In this paper, 43 of mathematics teachers were chosen to be tested and 3 of them were interviewed for their MKT. The research findings are as follows:First, some of mathematics teachers have tendency to consider ‘size’ of the region as ‘area’ in the definition of the geometrical probability. Second, many of teachers showed lack of understanding of the Bertrand paradox. Third, some of mathematics teachers showed some of misconceptions that the event of zero probability does not happen. Fourth, many of teachers think that the concept of the geometrical probability is required to be introduced in high school textbook for the completion of probability calculation.
