국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 뇌가소성에 대한 명확한 이해를 제공하고 교육적 시사점을 도출하는데 있다. 뇌가소성은 교육신경학에서 가장 많은 관심을 받은 주제 중 하나로 뇌의 기능이나 구조가 환경이나 경험에 의해 변화하는 특성을 말한다. 본 연구는 교육신경학에 대한 새로운 접근으로써 뇌가소성에 대한 이해 그 자체가 학생과 교육자에게 긍정적일 수 있다는 관점을 바탕으로 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 신경생물학 및 인지과학, 뇌과학 연구결과를 종합하여 뇌가소성을 이해하고 뇌가소성과 관련한 최신 연구들을 확인하였다. 또한 인간의 학습에 있어서 결정적 시기를 어떻게 이해할 수 있는가에 대해 살펴보고 뇌가소성에 대한 이해가 교육에 미치는 영향에 대해 논의하였다. 본 연구는 뇌과학과 교육학 간 새로운 융합적 접근을 바탕으로 했다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 교육자들은 뇌과학 지식을 명확히 이해하고 과장된 해석이나 왜곡 없이 신중한 학문 간 융합을 할 수 있도록 노력해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to make an accurate understanding of brain plasticity and find an implication for educational setting. Considered as one of the most important issues in the neuroeducation field, brain plasticity is defined as a brain characteristic of which brain functions and structures can be changed by environments and experiences. The current study was based on a framework that understanding brain plasticity itself has a positive effect on both the student and the educator, making it a new approach in neuroeducation. Through reviews of recent brain plasticity research, comprehension of brain plasticity were made by a combination of results in neuroscience, cognitive science and educational psychology. The comprehension of the critical period in human learning and the possible impact of the understanding of brain plasticity on education were also addressed. This study holds great significance in the respect of its original integral approach towards the relationship between brain science and education. Educators should have precise understanding of the brain and make efforts to infuse brain science and education carefully without exaggeration or distortion of the results.
