난임 여성의 임신 과정에서 겪은 심리적 난관에 관한 현상학 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 난임 여성의 임신 경험의 의미에 관해 탐구하는 것에 목적이 있다. 본 연구를 위한 자료수집은 참여자 선정과 심층인터뷰 기간을 포함하여 2018년 4월부터 6월까지 진행되었다. 연구 참여자는 만 35세 이상 고령이면서 2년 이상의 난임 기간을 겪고, 인터뷰 당시 임신 중이며, 연구 참여에 동의한 여성 3명으로 선정되었다. 결과는 Giorgi 현상학적 자료분석 방법으로 연구자들의 합의를 통해 4개의 주제, 8개의 하위구성 요소, 18개의 의미 단위로 분석되었다. 도출된 4개의 주제는 엄마가 되어야 하는 나, 아이에 대한 갈망, 난임 시술의 고통, 엄마로 등극이다. 연구결과가 의미하는 것은 첫째, 여성의 역할과 의무로써 임신에 대한 부담과 책임이고, 둘째, 아이에 대한 갈망으로 임신에 대한 간절함과 조급함이 있으나 포기할 수 없는 임신이며, 셋째, 혼자서는 이겨낼 수 없는 난임 시술 과정에서의 어려움과, 넷째, 시험관 시술의 성공으로 잉태의 기쁨도 있지만, 유산에 대한 염려가 그림자로 존재하는 것이다. 본 연구의 결과가 시사하는 바는 결혼적령기가 늦어짐에 따라 출산 연령이 높아지는 것과 환경적, 사회적 맥락 속에서 겪게 되는 기혼 여성들의 난임 및 임신 경험의 의미와 본질을 알아보고, 난임 여성과 임산부에 대한 심리적 지지의 필요성을 고찰하는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study explores meaning in the experience of pregnancy among women with infertility. Data collection was conducted from April to June 2018 and included participant selection and an in-depth interview period. The study participants were three women who were 35 years of age or older, who had suffered infertility for more than two years, were pregnant at the time of the interview, and who had consented to participate. The authors conducted in-depth interviews with the study participants and analyzed the results using the Giorgi phenomenological data analysis method, which included 4 themes, 8 subcomponents, and 18 semantic units through the consensus of the authors. The four themes of “the need to become a mother,” “longing for a child,” “the pain of infertility treatment,” and “becoming a mother” were derived. The findings imply the following: First, the pressure and responsibility of becoming pregnant to fulfill the role and duties of a woman. Second, the desire, impatience, and persistency in becoming pregnant stemming from a desire for a child. Third, challenges in undergoing treatment for infertility that cannot be overcome alone. Fourth, the underlying fear of miscarriage despite the joy of successfully conceiving through IVF. Such findings suggest the need to explore the increase in the age of pregnant women with regard to an increase in the age of women getting married, along with the meaning and nature of the experiences of pregnancy among married women with infertility, as well as the need for psychological support for women with infertility and pregnant women.
