국문 초록

우정사업본부는 국내주식시장에서 차익거래에 대한 증권거래세를 면제받는 유일한 기관투자자이자, 약136조원 정도를 운영하는 국민연금 다음으로 큰 기관투자자이다. 그럼에도 우정사업본부의 차익거래세 면제관련 연구는 다수 존재하지만, 주식 매매에 대한 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 본 연구는 듀레이션이 긴 연금을 운용하는 국민연금에 대한 선행연구와 듀레이션이 상대적으로 짧은 예금을 운용하는 기관투자자 우정사업본부의 매매전략과 시장영향력을 비교하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국민연금이 역추세 추종전략을 사용한다는 연구 결과들과는 대조적으로 우정사업본부는 추세 추종전략을 사용하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 우정사업본부의 매매는 유가증권 시장의 유동성을 높이는데 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 추세 추종전략을 사용하는 우정사업본부 매매는변동성을 확대시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 증권거래세 이슈가 아닌 투자전략 및 시장영향력 측면에서 우정사업본부를 분석한 첫 번째연구라는 점과 운용자산의 듀레이션 정도에 따라 투자전략이 달라질 수 있다는 것을 보여주었다는 점에서의의가 있다고 판단된다.

영문 초록

The KOREA POST is the only institutional investor exempted from securities transaction tax in the domestic stock market and the second largest institutional investor after the National Pension, which operates 136 trillion won. There are many studies on the tax exemption of the KOREA POST, but few studies on the stock trading behavior have been conducted. This study compared the preceding studies on the National Pension that operates on a long duration with an investment strategy and a market impact of the KOREA POST that operates a deposit with a relatively short duration. The main results of this study are as follows : First, the KOREA POST used trend-following strategies compared to the study that the National Pension uses the backward-following strategies. Second, the KOREA POST contributed to the increase of liquidity on the KOSPI market. Third, unlike the National Pension, which uses the backward trend following strategy, the KOREA POST using the trend following strategy has expanded the volatility. This study is the first study to analyze the KOREA POST in terms of an investment strategy and a market impact, not securities transaction tax issue, and it is meaningful in that it shows that investment strategy can be changed according to the degree of duration of operational assets.
