기독교교육의 본질로서의 아름다움

국문 초록

교육의 본질에 대한 연구를 함에 있어서 전통적으로는 인지적인 측면에서 탐구되었으며 20세기 행동주의 철학이 교육에 도입된 이후로는 행동의 변화 즉 의지적인 측면에서 탐구되었다. 그러나 이 논문에서는 제3의 영역인 정서적인 측면인 선 곧 아름다움의 측면에서 교육의 본질을 논의하였다. 이렇게 교육의 본질로서의 아름다움에 대한 논의를 함에 있어서 먼저 교육의 본질에 대한 이해를 추구하였는데 그 방법으로는 교육에 대한 은유적 논의를 채택하였다. 특히 쉐플러의 분류 3가지 곧 주형의 은유, 성장의 은유, 그리고 예술의 은유를 논의하였다. 그리고 기독교교육의 본질에 대한 은유를 논의하였는데 이는 플루드만(James E. Plueddemann)의 분류를 채택하고 그 문제점을 제시함과 아울러 연구자의 개념인 ‘회복의 은유’를 그 대안으로 제시하였다. 그리고 본 연구의 핵심인 기독교교육의 본질을 아름다움(美)라는 관점에서 논의하였다. 즉 아름다움이 왜 교육의 본질로서 필연적인가를 논의하였는데 그 탐구의 핵심은 아름다움(美)은 교육이 추구하는 가치 유형중의 하나임을 그 근거로 제시하였다. 그러면 이러한 아름다움의 본질과 속성은 무엇인가를 역사적인 흐름의 관점에서 논의하였으며, 또한 진리의 전수라는 교육의 본질과 행동의 변화라는 교육의 본질에 더하여 아름다움이라는 교육의 본질을 논의하였다. 본 연구자는 이러한 기독교교육의 본질로서의 아름다움을 성경의 개념인(엡 4:12) ‘회복’과 연계하였다. 마지막으로, 이러한 아름다움을 교육의 현장에서 어떻게 교육현장에서 실천할 것인가를 연구하는 실천방안의 몇가지를 제시함으로서 본 연구의 결론을 맺었다. 이러한 아름다움의 관점에서 기독교교육의 본질에 대한 논의는 교육의 지평을 더 넓히는 계기가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

In studying the nature of education, the cognitive aspect was traditionally considered. Since 20th century, which the behaviorism was introduced in the area of education, education was explored in the aspect of the volition. But in this paper, I shall discuss the nature of education from the aspect of beauty which is the 3rd aspect of education. In doing so, I attempt to understand the nature of education by adopting the metaphorical discussion of education. Particularly, I discussed the classification of I. Scheffler who suggested the metaphor about the nature of education as the shaping metaphor, the growth metaphor, and the art metaphor. And in discussing the nature of christian education, I adopted the classification of James E. Plueddemann and discussed the strength and weakness of the metaphors. After that I suggest my metaphor, the restoring metaphor, as the alternative. After perusing the nature of christian education, I discussed the nature of christian education in terms of beauty. That is, I discussed why the nature of education is necessary and suggested the basis in which beauty is one of the core types of value which education is pursuing. In this paper, the nature and character of beauty are discussed in terms of history. In addition to that, beauty as the nature of education is discussed with the transmission of knowledge and the change of behavior as the nature of education. In addition to the concept of beauty as the nature of christian education, I connected the biblical concept of ‘restoring’(Eph. 4:12). Finally, I suggested a few practical ideas how to practice the beauty in the field of education. The study of the nature of christian education in terms of beauty will enlarge the area of education.
