국문 초록

본고는 김승옥의 작가 이력의 처음과 끝에 위치한 「환상수첩」과 「서울의 달빛0장」을 함께 검토함으로써 김승옥의 소설 세계를 관통하는 일관된 관점이나 주제의식을 발견하는 것을 목적으로 한다.특히 본고에서는 「환상수첩」과 「서울의 달빛0장」이 공통적으로 윤리적 타락이라는 주제를 다루고 있다는 사실에 주목했다.「환상수첩」에서도 「서울의 달빛 0장」에서도 우리는 윤리적 타락이라는 문제에 직면한인물들의 공통된 곤경을 관찰할 수 있으며,그러한 타락이 역시 공통적으로 사랑이라는 문제와 깊은 연관성을 갖고 있다는 사실을 관찰할 수 있다.이러한 사실을 바탕으로 본고에서는 동일한 주제가 시간이 흐르면서 어떤 방식으로 일관성을 유지하거나혹은 변주되어왔는지 검토하고자 했다. 「환상수첩」의 영빈과 수영은 자기 세계를 확립함으로써 완전해지고자 한다.그들에게 자기는 죽음과의 투쟁을 통해 단련되는 것이다.진정으로 강인한 인간이 되어죽음을 극복하거나 혹은 완성하고자 하는 두 사람에게 사랑은 삶의 절대적 기준으로서의 자기를 전적으로 상실하게 만드는 타락이다.마찬가지로 선애와 윤수에게도 사랑은 자기를 절대적으로 상실하게 만드는 타락이지만,그러나 이들에게 사랑은 자기를 상실함으로써 그것을 더욱 완전하게 만드는 타락이다.선애와 윤수는 사랑을 완전히 상실함으로써 자기의 상실을 통해 더욱 완전해질 수 있는 기회를 상실한다. 「서울의 달빛 0장」의 ‘나’와 아내에게는 반대로 타락이야말로 진정한 사랑이다. ‘나’는 윤리적으로 타락한 아내를 이혼을 통해 떠나보내지만,그러나 아내와 완전히이별할 준비가 되어 있지 않다.여전히 아내를 사랑하는 ‘나’는 아내의 타락한 세계 속으로 타락함으로써 여전히 그녀를 자신의 곁에 두고자 한다.사랑하는 아내가 윤리적으로 타락한 존재들과 함께 윤리적으로 타락한 세계 속에 놓여 있을 수밖에 없는 것이라면 ‘나’에게는 윤리적으로 타락하는 것만이 아내를 위하는 유일한 길이 되는 것이다.아내에게도 타락은 사랑이어서 그녀는 파국적인 현재로 인해 미래를 잠식당한 남성들을 일종의 연민의 감정으로 보듬어 안는다.죽음이 주는 슬픔으로 인해 타락한남성들을 동정하며,함께 죽음의 두려움과 슬픔을 나누기 위해 아내는 그들과 함께성적으로 타락하는 것이다. 「환상수첩」과 「서울의 달빛 0장」은 모두 절대적 윤리와 절대적 타락을 설정해두고있다는 점에서 공통적이다.「환상수첩」의 영빈과 수영,그리고 「서울의 달빛 0장」의‘나’의 논리에 따르면 자기 세계의 윤리는 절대적 윤리이며 생활 세계의 윤리는 상대적 윤리이다.그들에게 상대적 윤리는 언제든 위반 가능한 사소한 것이며,절대적 윤리에 충실하기 위해서라면 상대적 윤리를 위반하는 것은 오히려 반드시 필요한 과정이기도 하다.그러나 「환상수첩」과 「서울의 달빛 0장」에서 긍정하는 진정한 의지와용기는 주체의 넘을 수 없는 한계를 인정하고 그것을 자신의 것으로 적극적으로 받아들이는 인물들의 행위 속에서 발견된다.선애와 윤수,그리고 ‘나’의 아내에 따르면 수동적인 한계를 능동적으로 인정하는 행위야말로 주체가 윤리적으로 사유하고 행동할수 있는 유일한 방식이다.그들이야말로 자기 세계의 윤리와 생활 세계의 윤리를 뛰어넘는,김승옥만의 절대적 자기 윤리를 보여주는 인물들인 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to discover a consistent perspective and theme consciousness penetrating the world of Kim Seung-ok’s novels by reviewing the 「Fantasy Notebook」 and 「Seoul’s Moonlight Chapter 0」, located at the beginning and end of Kim Seung-ok’s author career. In particular, this paper paid attention to the fact that the 「Fantasy Notebook」 and 「Seoul Moonlight Chapter 0」 dealt with the subject of ethical corruption in common. In 「Fantasy Notebook」 and 「Seoul’s Moonlight Chapter 0」, we can observe the common plight of people facing the problem of ethical corruption, and observe that such corruption also has a deep connection to the problem of love in common. Based on these facts, this paper attempted to examine how the same subject has been consistent or changed over time. Young-bin and Su-young in the 「Fantasy Notebook」 want to be complete by establishing their own world. For them, self is trained through the struggle against death. Love is a depravity that completely loses themselves as an absolute standard of life for two people who want to overcome or complete death by becoming truly strong human beings. Likewise, for Sun-ae and Yun-su, love is a depravity that makes them lose themselves absolutely, but for them, love is a depravity that makes them more complete by losing themselves. By completely losing love, Sun-ae and Yoon-soo lose the opportunity to become more complete through their own loss. For ‘I’ and his wife in 「Seoul’s Moonlight Chapter 0」, on the contrary, corruption is true love. ‘I’m sending my ethically depraved wife away through divorce, but I m not fully prepared to part with her. ‘I’, who still loves her, still wants to keep her by her side by degenerating into a corrupt world. If my beloved wife is forced to lie in an ethically corrupt world with ethically corrupted beings, for me, being ethically corrupt is the only way for her. Corruption is love even for her wife, so she embraces men who have been eroded by catastrophic present with a kind of compassion. In order to sympathize with men who are corrupted by the grief of death, and to share the fear and sorrow of death together, the wife is sexually corrupted with them. Both 「Fantasy Notebook」 and 「Seoul’s Moonlight Chapter 0」 are common in that they have absolute ethics and absolute corruption. According to the logic of Youngbin and Suyeong in the 「Fantasy Notebook」 and ‘I’ in 「Seoul’s Moonlight Chapter 0」, the ethics of one’s world is absolute ethics, and the ethics of the living world is relative. However, the true will and courage affirmed in the 「Fantasy Notebook」 and 「Seoul’s Moonlight Chapter 0」 can be found in the actions of the characters who acknowledge the subject’s insurmountable limit and actively accept it as their own. According to Sun-ae, Yun-su, and the wife of ‘I’, the act of actively acknowledging passive limits is the only way the subject can think and act ethically. They are the characters who show Kim Seung-ok’s absolute self-ethics, transcending the ethics of his own world and the ethics of the living world.
