국문 초록

본 연구는 조직학습이론의 관점에서 중소기업의 혁신성과에 대한 선행요인을 발견하는 데 연구의 중심을 둔다. 특별히 중소기업이 조직 양손잡이(organizational ambidexterity) 전략을 구사하고자 할 때 고려할 점이 무엇인지에 관한 이론을 제시하고자 한다. 기존의 연구는 중소기업 내부의 R&D 노력과 외부 협력관계의 다양성 등을 중소기업의 혁신역량으로서 제시하고 있으나, 대기업에 비해 중소기업의 경우 양손잡이 지식활동의 정도를 조정할 필요를 간과하고 있다. 본 연구는 중소기업이 이러한 내외부적 R&D 투자의 정도를 해당 조직이 감당할 수 있는 수준에 맞게 조정하는 변수를 발견하여 이를 삼단 상호작용 분석을 통해 밝혔다. 2018년 한국기업혁신조사를 통해 수집된 대한민국 제조업의 3,388개 중소기업을 대상하는 실증 분석으로 통해 내부 R&D노력과 외부협력관계의 다양성과 조직 규모 간의 삼단 상호작용 관계를 확인하였다. 이 같은 분석 결과를 바탕으로 중소기업의 혁신성과에 관한 양손잡이 전략에 관한 토론과 함께 실무적 시사점을 제시한다.

영문 초록

This study is based on the theoretical perspective of organizational learning to find the preceding factors of innovation performance of SMEs. In particular, it is theoretically suggested that the organizational ambidexterity strategy should be considered when implementing it in SMEs. Although there are research results recommended by SMEs as innovation capabilities such as R&D efforts and diversity of external cooperation within SMEs, it is necessary to adjust the degree of implementation of SMEs ambidexterity compared to large companies. This study found the variables that the SMEs adjust the degree of internal and external R&D investment to the level that the organization can afford and revealed them through three-way interaction analysis. Therefore, this study has theoretical or practical significance in the theoretical perspective of organizational learning theory and innovation performance of SMEs. The empirical analysis was conducted on 3,388 SMEs belonging to the South Korean manufacturing industry collected through the Korean Innovation Survey (KIS) in 2018.
