지체장애학생의 지역사회 참여를 위한 교육 방향성 탐색 기초 연구

국문 초록

최근 지체장애 특수학교 학생들의 중도·중복화로 인해 교육과정 운영의 어려움이 대두되고 있으며, 그에 따라 생태학적 접근의 필요성이 높아지고 있다. 현재 개정 교육과정의 경우 특수교육대상학생의 중도·중복화에 따른 교육과정 운영 지침이 추가되었으나 구체적인 교육과정이나 교육활동에 필요한 내용의 제시가 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 중증의 지체장애 학생의 장애 특성을 충분히 고려한 대안적 교육과정 및 지침의 개발이 절실하다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 지체장애학생의 지역사회참여를 위한 교육의 방향성을 탐색하기 위하여 세계보건기구(WHO)에서 개발된 국제기능·건강·장애분류(ICF-CY)를 적용한 기초 연구를 실시하였다. 이를 위해 전국 지체장애 10개교 특수교사(N=200)를 대상으로 ICF-CY 항목에서 추출한 문항과 일상생활 참여빈도(FPQ)에 대한 활동과 참여 수준을 분석하고 변인에 따른 상관관계를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 연구 대상 지체장애학생들은 ‘이동’, ‘가정생활’, ‘주요생활’, ‘공동생활·사회생활·시민으로서의 생활’ 기능에서 ‘중등도 곤란’에서 ‘고도 곤란’ 사이의 수준을 보였으며, ‘대인관계’ 기능에서는 ‘경도 곤란’에서 ‘중등도 곤란’ 사이의 수준으로 나타났다. 한편, 일상생활 참여빈도(FPQ) 수준은 항목별 전체 평균으로 볼 때 ‘한 달에 약 1회 미만’에서 ‘한 달에 약 1회’ 사이의 수준으로 조사되었으며, ICF-CY의 활동과 참여 하위 영역과 FPQ 수준 간의 상관관계는 ICF-CY의 일부 영역에서 강한 정적 상관을 보였고, ICF-CY 하위 영역과 FPQ 수준 간에는 유의미한 부적 상관을 보였다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, ICF-CY는 생태학적 입장에서 환경과의 상호작용을 고려한 관점을 가지고 있기 때문에 활동과 참여에 제한이 있고 특히, 교육과정의 적용이 어려운 중증의 지체장애학생들의 교육 활동 영역을 설정하는데 도움이 될 수 있다. 둘째, ICF-CY의 분류 코드를 사용할 경우, 지체장애학생의 삶과 관련된 다차원적 영역에서 진단적 정보를 제공함과 동시에 개개 학생들의 현 상태를 파악하고 교육활동의 기준을 마련할 수 있다는 점에서 개별화교육계획 수립 및 적용 시 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

As the number of students with severe and multiple disabilities are getting increased in a special school for physically disabled students, it causes difficulties of using and applying current curricula for them. Therefore the needs of applying ecological education for them are getting increased. Curriculum management for students with severe and multiple disabilities was developed recently, still it does not address enough curriculum contents for them. It needs to be developed an alternative curriculum and a guide book for them. It is a big issue for the students with physical disabilities to attend various life activities in home and community. The study focused on exploring and developing in many directions for students with severe disabilities to participate community by applying ICF-CY which was developed by WHO. The survey was conducted for 200 special education teachers who work in a special school for physically disabled students First the survey consisted of codes which were drawn from mobility, home life, interpersonal interactions and relationships, major life areas, community, social and civil life which were sub parts of participation and activities of ICF-CY. The survey was distributed special teachers and let them check the frequencies of students’ participation in daily life. Correlation Analysis was used to identify correlation between the results of survey and frequency of Participation Questionnaire. The results were as follows,First, sub-part of the participation and activities of ICF-CY is helpful of the students with physical disabilities when it is applied to development and implementation of curriculum. Second, sub-part of the participation and activities of ICF-CY could be used as a guideline and provide the educational direction for the students with physical disabilities Third, sub-part of the participation and activities of ICF-CY is useful to planning IEPs.
