국문 초록

이 글은 국제이주가 증가하면서 다문화공간이 되고 있는 지역사회의 지역성과 지역정체성을 논의하기 위한 시론적 논의이다. 좀 더 구체적으로, 이 글은 지역개발과정에서 출신지를 떠나 제주도로 들어온 사람들의 초기 정주과정, 특히 이들의 초기 정착지 해남촌 의 사례를 통해 최근 다문화공간이 되고 있는 지역의 사회와 공간을 이해하고, 이에 기반해 제주사회의 이주민 연구의 과제를 제시하였다. 국내외 초지역적 · 초국가적 이주와 정착 과정은 구체적인 장소에서 나타나고, 또 구체적인 장소를 통해서 이루어지며, 이주민에 대한 다문화적 수용의 문제도 장소를 벗어난 추상적인 사회에서 이루어지는 것이 아니라 구체적인 공간과 장소에서 벌어진다. 따라서 이주와 정착에 대한 연구도 보다 구체적인 지역적 차원에서 이들이 어떻게 적응하는지, 지역사회가 이들을 어떻게 받아들이고 있는지에 좀 더 많은 관심을 기울여야 한다는 점에서 지역공간에 대한 관점이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This article is a kind of the current view-like argument to discuss locality and local identity of the community which becomes a multi-cultural space while increasing in an international migration. In particular, this article treats the formation and dissolution of a immigrant-up town, Henam town who came to Jejudo in the regional development process to understand community space which is being a multi-cultural one. Based on this analysis, the article tried to show immigrants research direction in Jejudo. International- interregional migration and settlement take place at the specific place and make up through a specific place. A community multi-cultural acceptance matter of community to immigrants also spreads at a specific space and place not to make up by the abstract society which sneaked out of a place. Therefore, the future for immigrant research should be more focusted on the immigrants community and their lives in the community.
