『화두』의 장르규정과 오토픽션의 ‘동일성 규칙’

국문 초록

이 글은 『화두』를 오토픽션으로 규정함으로써 『화두』를 둘러싼 소설성 논란을 잠재우고 이 작품의 성격과 의의를 보다 명확히 규명하고자 했다. 두브로브스키가 제안한 오토픽션은 저자·화자·인물이 모두 동일한 이름을 가진 동일인물이면서 동시에 허구라는 모순된 규약을 만족시키는 작품으로, 이름 프로토콜, 정체성 프로토콜, 허구 양식 프로토콜을 모두 요청한다. 그러나 ‘이름의 명시적 동일성’이라는 기준은 현실적으로 모든 작품에 적용하기가 힘들고, 자아의 복수성과 허구성에 대한 현대적 사유를 충분히 반영하지 못할 뿐아니라, ‘동일성의 관계’를 너무 단순하게 규정해버린다는 점에서 그 한계가 분명하다. 따라서 이 글에서는 저자 · 화자 · 인물의 동일성을 가늠하는 지표로 이름 프로토콜보다는 정체성 프로토콜이 보다 적합하다고 보고, 실제 저자와 인물의 매우 높은 유사성 및 이 작품의 지시적 성격, 작가의 말이나 인터뷰 등의 곁텍스트, 무엇보다 『화두』의 원환적 구조가 제안하는 저자-인물의 동일성 계약 등을 근거로 『화두』를 오토픽션으로 규정했다.

영문 초록

This article attempted to calm the novelty controversy surrounding 『The Topic』 and clarify the characteristics and significance of this work by defining 『The Topic』 as autofiction. The autofiction proposed by Dubrovsky is a work that satisfies the contradictory rules of fiction, in which the author, speaker, and person are all the same person with the same name, it requests both a name protocol, an identity protocol, and a fiction style protocol. However, the criterion of explicit identity of the name is difficult to apply to all works in reality, does not sufficiently reflect modern thoughts about the pluralism and fictional of the self, and defines the relationship of identity too simple. The limit is obvious in that. Therefore, in this article, the identity protocol was considered to be more suitable than the name protocol as an index to gauge the identity of the author, speaker, and person. Based on this, we examine the very high similarity between the actual author and the person, the indicative nature of this work, paratexts such as the author s words or interviews, and above all, the author-person identity contract suggested by the circular structure of the 『The Topic』 was defined as autofiction.
