국문 초록

이 논문은 김종삼의 낭만주의 경향에 대해 탐구해본다. 이중 언어 세대에 포함된 김종삼 시인은 전통적 리듬을 벗어난 시에 천착한 결과 자연스럽게 모더니즘 시인으로 해석되었다. 하지만 김종삼 시인은 낭만주의 시인으로도 구분할 수 있다. 그의 시에 자주 등장하는 비극적 세계관, 가난·소외에 관한 의식, 구원, 새로운 언어를 찾는 의지 등은 낭만주의의 속성이기 때문이다. 특히 김종삼의 주요 주제는 구원이다. 그의 삶도 한국 사회보다 서구 문화·예술·음악에 경도되었고, 시에도 이런 모습들이 적극 피력되어 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 적지 않은 시에서 구원과 무관한, 오래된 와인에 깔린 침전물처럼 쓸쓸한 정서가 가라앉아 있다. 낭만주의적 태도를 견지했던 김종삼에게서 왜 쓸쓸함이 발견되는가. 이 침전물의 생성을 따라가 보려고 한다. 김종삼 시의 낭만주의 경향에 주목해야 하는 까닭은 그의 시에는 동시대의 모더니즘 시인과는 차별되는, 모더니즘만으로 충분히 설명되지 않는 정서가 있음에도 불구하고 이를 주목한 연구는 찾아보기 어렵기 때문이다. 따라서 이 논문은 모더니스트로 인식된 김종삼에게서 낭만주의적 경향을 읽어내 그의 시세계를 보다 다각적으로 접근해보는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to examine the Kim Jong-sam s Romanticism. Kim Jong-sam was interpreted as a modernist poet. Because he wrote poetry that doesn t follow the traditional rhythm and he belongs to bilingual generation in the 50s. However, Kim Jong-sam can also be classified as a romantic poet. This is because the tragic worldview that frequently appears in his poems, the consciousness of poverty and alienation, salvation, and the will to find a new language are the attributes of romanticism. In particular, Kim Jong-sam s main theme is salvation. His life as an individual was also more obsessed with Western culture, art, and music than Korean society in the 50s, and such aspects are actively expressed in poetry. Nevertheless, in a number of poems, regardless of salvation, a lonely sentiment is subsided like sediment over old wine. Why is lonesome found in Kim Jong-sam, who consistently maintained a romantic attitude? This paper attempts to follow the formation of sediments. The reason why it is worth paying attention to Kim Jong-sam s tendency to romanticism is that it is difficult to find studies that focus on such aspects. In his poems, there is an emotion that is not fully explained by modernism alone, which is different from the poets who promoted contemporary modernism. Therefore, this paper is meaningful to read the romanticist tendency from Kim Jong-sam, recognized as a modernist, and to approach his poetic world more diversely.
