부여 노하심 중층 무덤의 매장 행위 유추

국문 초록

이 글에서는 노하심 중층 무덤의 장구, 부장품, 장속을 검토하고 검토 결과로부터 매장행위에 종족적 정체성이 어떻게 표현되었는가에 초점을 두고 매장행위를 유추하였다. 무덤 검토 결과 장구는 목곽보다는 목관이나 목질장구가 선호되었고, 주검처리 과정에서 북방식과 중국 중원식이 혼용되었다. 그리고 여러 차례에 걸친 부장품의 공헌도 있었다. 이러한 결과는 부여는 곽을 쓰고 관을 사용하지 않는다는 문헌기록이나 무덤은 종족적 전통을 고수하려는 경향이 강하다는 그동안 암묵적으로 인정해 온 전제와는 차이가 있었다. 북방식 장속으로 이해되었던 화장이나 충전과정에서의 쌍이호나 말 치아 매납, 훼기 등의 장속은 보편적으로 행해지지 않았고, 북방식을 대표하는 동물문 장식구나 동병철검, 동복 등의 기물은 한경 등 한대 중원의 기물과 함께 위신재로서 공헌되었다. 따라서 일련의 매장행위에서 종족적 정체성이 잘 표현되지 않았다. 한편, 북방계와 중원계 요소가 함께 하는 무덤은 의도적 장지선정을 보여주지만, 장지선정에서 배타적인 엘리트의 모습을 보여주지 않아서 당시 노하심 중층 집단은 위계화가 진전된 집단으로 보기 어려웠다. 이로부터 무덤에 표현된 종족적 정체성은 선택적이고 가변적이었으며, 이동성이 강한 북방족의 사회 성격이나 발전 정도는 다양한 관점에서 접근해야 한다는 시사점과 함께 문헌기록에 따른 고고 자료의 즉물적 해석도 경계해야 함을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

In this paper, the burial rites were inferred by examining the middle layered tombs at Laoheshen, focusing on how the ethnic identity was expressed in burial rites in tombs. It was examined the various attributes of tombs focusing the burial rites including the selection of the cemetery, the dressed the deceased, burial goods, and funeral customs. As a results, it was different from the literature records that Buyeo use a wooden receptacle(목곽) instead of wooden coffin. The deceased was dressed in combination Northern tribe tradition and the ancient China style. The funeral customs, for example as cremate, pitting the horse tooth, and breaking the goods were not general in the middle-layered site. The goods of represented the Northern tribe and objects of Han dynasty China were consecrated together in a tomb. As examined, the burial rites of the tombs at middle layered of Laoheshen were show that the ethnic identity of Buyeo was selective and variable, contrary to the premise that the ethnic tradition of Buyeo would have been reflected in the burial rites. And viewing the point that the cost of the tomb shows the social status of the buried and the degree of social development, the exclusive graveyard of elite and complexity of social were not obvious. So it was show that the society of middle layered of Laoheshen was not the concentrated society. Therefore, in the case of the northern tribe, which is more mobile than settlement, it is necessary to approach the nature of society and the degree of development from various perspectives, and also it should also be careful of the immediate interpretation between the archaeological data and the literature records.
