국문 초록

본 연구에서는 2017년 개정 일본 중학교 사회과 학습지도요령에 나타난 인구교육 내용을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 인구와 관련된 개념들 대부분이 기술되어 있었다. 둘째, 인구를 지역 사회의 특징이나 현상을 이해하기 위한 핵심(중핵) 개념으로 활용하고 있었다. 셋째, 지리 분야와 공민 분야 간에 인구교육 내용 진술 방법이나 접근 방식이 상이하였다. 지리 분야에서는 인구가 (지역)사회 현상이나 변화를 설명할 수 있는 주요 변수라는 것에, 공민 분야에서는 인구 현상 중 저출산 고령화가 다양한 사회 영역(특히 경제 영역)에 미치는 영향을 주로 다루고 있었다. 넷째, 인구교육 내용 배열은, “인구는 사회현상이나 변화를설명할 수 있는 핵심 개념이다. → 인구를 활용하여 사회(지역을 포함하여)의 다양한 사상(事象)을 구분할 수 있으며, 이들 간에는 상호 관련성이 있다. → 다양한 사회사상을 인구와관련지어 직접 탐구하고 고찰한다.” 의 과정으로 구조화되어 있었다. 마지막으로, 인구교육의 목표로 인구와 관련된 지식뿐만 아니라 사고력, 판단력, 표현력 등 다양한 관점 및사고방법의 습득을 강조하고 있었으며, 이를 실현하기 위한 학생 중심 학습방법(탐구학습, 현지 조사, 문제해결 학습 등)을 구체적으로 제시하고 있었다.

영문 초록

The study analyzes population education presented in 2017 revised government curriculum guideline for Japanese middle school social studies. The results are as follows: firstly, the guideline describes most concepts related to population; secondly, the guideline employes population as a key concept to understand characteristics or phenomena of local communities; thirdly, statements or approaches differs so much from geography to civics. The field of geography emphasizes population as a major component to explain the phenomena or changes of local communities. On the contrary, the field of civics focuses on low birthrate and aging population among diverse population phenomena; fourthly, the guideline sequences the contents for population education in the order given below. First of all, it leads students to the fact that population is a key concept to explain social phenomena or changes. Then, it identifies and describes various phenomena of society - including local communities - and makes students understand their correlations using population. Lastly, it, based on this understanding, gives students opportunities to explore and investigate their real world; Fifthly, the guideline presents specific students-centered learning methods(inquiry learning, field survey, problem based learning).
